Getting closer!

So I'm having recent thoughts of "maybe I can do this without surgery" , meaning I don't want to have the food choices /restrictions that surgery will impose . . . I want to be able to do it on my own (as if I never said that before) . . . any comments?

I have a friend at work having the same thoughts. She is till doing all her test and everything required for byoass and doing a self diet and having her doctir track it just in case she changes her mind later then she will have everything in place if she decides on the bypass later. Just a thought. Wish you the best.

I understand, and I know I CAN lose weight without surgery, because I did it twice before in the OA program. It's just the "folllow  through" I always had trouble with before. I've lost the "same" 75 pounds twice, felt great, but at some point I failed to continue . . . go figure! My only point is that if I must change my lifestyle completely after surgery, I'll have to give up eating as a normal person forever. That could be a long time! With a "personal food plan, I at least could adjust my eating with fewer side effects, I think.  Thanks for your reply!

I think that we have all had those thoughts.  Also remember that this surgery isn't going to be a quick fix.  You will still have to do your part with nutrution and exercise...it just makes it a little easier to comply.

You need to do some research and truly educate yourself about your options.  Only you can make this decision because you are the one who will have to live with it.

Good luck, sweetie!

It can be done.  I had been on a "diet" before I started trying to have my surgery.  My highest weight was 526lbs.  When I started my pre-op diet in April of 07, I weighed in at 381.2lbs.  From that moment on I changed the way I was eating.  I started eating as if I had already had the surgery.  I found me a protein powder that I liked and started having me a protein shake every morning to boost my metabelism. And I was eating about 800 calories a day.  I was exercising too, 5 days a week for 30 min a day.  One of the only reasons that I chose to have surgery is to keep the weight off me.  I NEVER want to weigh that much EVER again and with the Lap Band I want have too.  When I went in for my surgery I weighed 286.4lbs on their scales.  So I had lost a total of 239.6lbs all together before surgery.  So, IT CAN BE DONE!!  You just have to have the right frame of mind to do it.  If you need anything, let me know.  I'm here for you in any way I can be.  Read my blog on OH....
