Update-Pre-op Testing

I thought I'd drop in and give you guys/gals an update on my pre-op testing. I had to have an EKG and an EGD as part of my pre-op testing and my EKG went as well as my overall visit with the cardiologist  did,  it was even better than I had expected,       with immediate cardiac  clearance.  My EGD was done  yesterday, it  turned out alright but the gastrologist found some inflammation.     He took a biopsy and told me that he did not think it would prevent me from having the surgery, but that he wanted to know about it anyway. So, I really don't know what to say from here.  Except that I have an upcoming PSYCH exam on the 8th and my first nutritional meeting on the 13th.  Well, just thought I'd let you know where I am in this part of the journey. I actually met another woman yesterday that kindly asked me what kind of surgery I was going to have. I told her and she kind of chuckled and stood up and told me that she herself had hers done at Vandy in 1979. I thought I was going to die. She's in her late 60's and still looks great. Yes, it was a very pleasant journey from Shelbyville to Nashville because you see she was the driver for the medical transportation company that took me there.  Her last words before leaving the driveway were........"I hope I get to take you back for your next appointment." Yes indeed very pleasant, not to mention her other pick up........a lady that goes to our church and her grandson. We all laughed and talked there and back. What a ride!  Diane

I had my pysch last week, who are you seeing?  Sounds as through you are getting your clearances done too.  I only have one more, that is the  sleep study and it on Sun. at Smyrna.  I know that you were so proud for your friend, that sounds really awesome, she sounds like she is so happy to have her new life.   hello friendBarb

Hello Barb,

Yes, I am also doing my pre-op testing, those were the only things he felt as though I needed to have done besides anything else routine.  But I did have them rolling in the gastro lab and then I told them I loved to laugh. I even made the gastrologist that I had kind of smile and he was very stonefaced and all business, but I got a smile out of him...LOL

The lady that I met was awesome. She made me laugh on the inside when she told me about her surgery and she never looks as though she's even weighed a lot.

I wish you the best on your journey and don't think it's because we have the same surgeon.......because it isn't........LOL   I did do some homework on Dr. Richards and I have to tell you this man has been and still is really into his work as a medical professional. I feel comfortable with him and haven't even met him in person yet.

I will be seeing Karen Starr for my psych exam.

Hi Diane. It sounds like you are on your way. Don't forget to fit in your support group meeting requirements too.  I am glad everything is rolling. It won't be long now! Talk to you soon.

Hey Misty, Long time no chat....LOL. I have been working my brains out trying to schedule my appointments and make room for support groups too, so I figured that I would make time for them both in the upcoming weeks. I already have a plan. Feb is the shortest month and it turns out to be the most interesting month for the support group schedule at Vandy, so I can knock them both out. I figured I could go to one on the 5th or the 19th and then one on the 22nd. Correct me if I'm wrong but  I do believe I can complete my support group requirements next month in a clean sweep. I'm excited about it!  How are you and baby doing?! I hope you two are getting along well and make sure you continue to take care of yourself. I will PM you soon! Diane
