Get rid of your scars...

From time to time, I think its good to resurrect an old topic.  I have been on plastic surgery forums lately... and the topic of scar creams came up.  So, I posted my homemade recipe...  which was given to me by a business contact...  A lady ordered and bought the ingredients, deciding to give it a try.  She posted this:  "...It feels good...I used scarguard after my BL and it didn't do a thing for me. My scars are purple, they are not raised, maybe just a little in a few spots, but the discoloration is what bothers me the most. They are so purple and ugly, I wish they would fade just a bit..." Then she posted, "Hi ladies, had to give you an update on this cream. Have been usings it for about 6 days now and I have to tell you, the results are amazing!!!!. I can already see a HUGE difference on my BL scars as well as the TT acar. I beleive this stuff will completely fade my scars in time. You have to try it, it is so worth it." I am not selling a thing.  I am just passing on a helpful hint if you have ANY scars to get rid of... regardless of what they are from,  how old they are, or where they are located....  I love it on my neck and chest...  it makes my skin look and feel soft and sheeny...  Here is the recipe: Equal parts of: extra virgin olive oil Ponds cold cream Pure Lanolin (me and Susan both get this from IHerb.com.  Its less than $5 for a large pot...  I suggest the pot, not the oil, and Susan has said the same thing... she tried the oil from Wild Oats and it is too runny... right SusieQ?) Yes it is messy...  just get a plastic container like Gladware, and you can mix it in there...  and then I would just dip it into your holding containers... whatever you might choose...  I use the Lanolin jar to dip out of each day.  You can use it at morning or night. To give proper credit, my friend's mother in law works for a plastic surgeon at Vanderbilt.  They say you can buy this, but its expensive, and that they give the recipe out to their patients...  it made my old breast reduction scars go away!

I too am a firm believer in the lotion, I use it every day a few times a day and I also get it from I Herb, I bought a glass jar with a screw top in the housewares section at Kmart, and it is the perfect size to store this product!!!   Melinda, I have been thinking for a while about posting this for everyone, but with all my finals lately, I didn't get a chance to do it!!  Thanks for all your wonderful advice and reminders!!! YOU ARE A SUCCESS AND INSPIRATION!!!

Thank you so very much! I am indeed indebted to you and I must try this. In spite of being a WLS pre-op, I too have had a BR. I was a nice BIG 52H and now I am a 44D. my scars have done very well, but there are still some areas that need to be taken care of as well as another small surgical scar that I need to get rid of or at least reduce the appearance of. But as I gaze into my crystal ball,
I can see that I will need this in the future more than I need it now........LOL

Thank you!!!

Mel is so very right about this cream. I have used it since she first posted it and my RNY scars are almost impossible to find. The scars from my gallbladder surgery 14 years ago have almost disappeared. I plan on using it on my PS scars just as soon as I get the go ahead from my surgeon. Plus, I have extremely dry skin. I have tried every cream and lotion out there and nothing works except this mixture. I massage this cream onto my arms, legs, tummy, chest, neck and feet every day. It's finally gotten rid of my itchy, winter dry skin. Just be aware, the pure lanolin is very thick and sticky so this really takes some mixing. I put the lanolin in my KitchenAid and drizzle in the olive oil until it is smooth and then add in the Ponds. Make sure you use Ponds and not a generic cold cream. The scent of the Ponds takes care of the olive oil smell and the olive oil keeps the perfume of the Ponds from being too strong. It's a win/win situation.
