You have come to the right place.  I would get a good basic vanilla shake mix.  You can add strawberries in it to make strawberry, or sugar free hershey strawberry syrup...  you can add sugar free hersheys syrup to make chocolate shakes...  you can add any flavor to it...  you can also use it to mix up 8 oz of liquid milk to put in pudding...  yes, protein pudding...A good one I like is Elite vanilla.  They do sell it at Vitamin Shoppe...  You can also get New Whey Protein bullets, which are 3 oz of protein liquid...  they come in 25 g and 42 g bullets...  blue rasberry, orange, tropical punch, and grape.  You can use these in sugar free instant jello.  These go down easy. You can also buy Any Whey tasteless protein powder that you can put in anything... I have not used it but have heard wonderful things.  If you will give me your email, I will send you a protein packet that I came up with last year for a protein party that we had...  Its got recipes in it. You can also visit bariatriceating.com which has a bunch of different recipes, a message board, and also sells protein products that taste good...  these are just a few ideas... One thing I have recently found is to add 8 oz of diet ocean spray cranberry to one scoop of whey gourmet rasberry smoothie powder...  you can add 8 oz minute maid orangeade sugar free to one scoop of matrix orange dream protein powder...  that tastes like a dreamsickle... I also make a pina colada shake.  I also have made a banana split shake.  You will get creative and the ideas are endless.

The norm is 60 to 80 grams.  You may want to try the Body Fortress  at walmart, I like the chocolate and it is not expensive...like $13.00 for a big jug of it.   It is very important to your life for you to get in the protein.  For my doctor, he likes for you to get it in in the foods you eat and try to avoid protein shakes, but if you are not getting but 45 grams in then you need to do the shakes, jus****ch the amount of calories and carbs in the shakes.  Here is my menu for a day, I am still trying to lose.

Carb master yougurt with a half scoop of the body fortress powder

3oz pouch of tuna, usually with salad greens (but I am almost 4years out, so if you can't eat the salad yet, dont)

3oz piece of chicken breast grilled usually with lemon pepper and a boiled egg.

I am getting 20g to 24 g of protein a day , on the low side but at least getting the minimum.

SF popcicles, SF jello and crystal light (walmart brand)  are if you have to have something else to eat, they count toward your clear liquids.  Which you should be getting 64 oz of daily. hope this helps in some way. darlene

If you go to bariatriceating.com, you can order samples of various brands and flavors. That way you can try it before you buy a big container. Like Mel said, find a vanilla that you like and you can tweak it for a large variety. Most of us use a lot of the Da Vinci sugar free syrups. That way you can add just a little bit of fruit for flavor and texture but not a lot of carbs. Use a matching or complimentary SF syrup to further enhance the flavor and you'll find you actually enjoy your protein supplement. The Any Whey truly is a good, flavorless protein powder. You can add it to soups and broth as well as sweet stuff. I get mine at GNC. It has a vanilla smell but no taste. I tried other supposedly "unflavored" protein powders that were nasty. Designer Whey Natural and Unjury unflavored are both gross and they do have a taste. Let Mel send you the list of shake recipes. There are some good ones there. Our first protein party was to help her find at least one supplement she liked. She is now a protein mixing mama. Always coming up with new recipes.

Good morning,  It seems we are very close in our surgery dates.  Mine was on the 18th.  At the moment, I am getting the majority of my protein through food.  I will start the day off with either an EAS protein shake or a home made shake.  For lunch I am usually having about 3 ounces of tuna salad or chicken salad.  Both are home made, this way I can control what goes in them.  I work 10-12 hour days, so I will have either a Lite cheese stick or a Kroger Carb Masters yogurt around 3:00.  Then for dinner, I am trying to have a dense protein for dinner.   We tried Melsreturn's ideas with the SF jello.  WOW!!  Great idea!!  this way when I need something sweet, I also get protein! Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't!   All you can do is try your best ! Have a good day!

I agree with Darlene's recommendation of Body Fortress Whey Protein.  I am actually doing the part of my diet before surgery that requires 2 liquid protein "meals" and 1 solid meal.  The old Body Fortress was changed.  last time I bought some went from 23g protein/scoop to the new 26g protein/scoop.  Since my pre-surgery Atkin's diet doesnt allow Milk products.. im forced to drink it with water, but I bypassed that by using Decaff Coffee as the liquid addative for the moment. 2 scoops = 52 protein easy.  and it only has 3g Sugars in it so its tolerable under bypass standards.  (its sweetened with Splenda) I am drinking 2 of these shakes for a whopping 104g Protein Pre-surgery atm.   Pretty good price for 30 scoops.. about 14.00 total.
