This is my first post on this forum. I have been making alot of decisions lately. With my family's encouragement I have begun looking into WLS for myself.  My insurance doesn't kick in until March due to my promotion so I'm not certain what will be involved.  I know that I can't keep on like this and that what I've tried hasn't worked. Also I believe that at my age this is the best time to prevent future issues. I hope to learn as much as possible and get to know everyone one here too. I know my momma loves ya'll to death and coming from her that means ya'll are all good people. MyHotComments.com MyHotComments

Ashlea ~ So glad to see you posting on here, as well! Welcome! I didn't know you were considering wls for yourself - wow! I wish I had known about it/considered it sooner. Being just a few months on the other side -- I so wish I had done this years ago! So ask away, cutie... all your questions will be answered, I'm sure!  ~ tara

Hey there sweetie pie! You are in the right place.  I didn't realize that you were thinking about WLS but I agree with Tara...I wish I had known about it sooner.  Just chime right in and ask all of the questions that go through your head.  You may also want to do some reading to educate yourself on the different types of surgery available.  I highly recommend Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and if you are thinking about Roux-en-Y...Susan Maria's book.  Also, you may want to sign onto bariatriceating.com.  It too is an excellent board where you will learn alot! Big ole southern welcome! Freddie

Hey. Welcome to the TN board! I had WLS at a "young" age (I was 26 but now I am 28) and I am really happy I did. I know that I will live a much longer and healthier life. I was pretty sick for a 26 year old and I knew something had to change quick. No regrets. No matter what method you chose, I wanted to wish you luck with your weight loss and on the road to a healthy life. If you need anything, let me/us know. Have you already signed up for insurance for March or looked at the paperwork to make sure this surgery isn't excluded? You can start visiting the seminars at different local hospitals so you can decide the hospital and type of surgery that works for you. Keep us updated on how you are doing.
