I am in the approval process to have my surgery done by Dr. Richards at Vanderbilt.  If Dr. Richards performed your lap Rny, what was your experience with him like? Also, how was the care at Vandy?  Thanks in advance.  Bob [email protected]

ROLL TIDE!! back at ya!   Yep, I am a Crimson Tide fan.  Just like me, they have a lot of work ahead of them, but with the right work ethic and attitude, we will both be winners!!!  Or in my case should I say, a LOSER!!!   LOL

I just had the Surgery Dec 17  at Vanderbilt with Dr. Richards.  The staff at vandy was so nice.  I am very pleased with him and his staff.  The staff at Vandy left me alone unless they were checking vitals.  I was up walking within minutes of getting to my room.  As long as your up and walking they leave you alone but do check on you.  I had a nurse named Casey who was very friendly during the day. Good Luck Kris

Hi Bob. I had my surgery at Vandy but not with Dr Richards. The surgery clinic and aftercare was really great at Vandy. I highly recommend them. I did not care to much for the  approval process and the people responsilbe for that but once that is over, the nurses, surgeons, and aftercare in the clinic was terrific. The nurses in the hospital after the surgery were good too. My only complaint was they are soo pushy. Which isn't a bad thing but it was for me. They will come in and bug you to get up and walk when you don't want to. I thought I was going to cuss someone out. I am one of those "Just leave me alone when I don't feel good" kind of people. But they were just doing there job. You are supposed to get up and move around. Outside of that, all was good. Good luck on your approval.

My surgery was at Vandy but with Dr Torquati who is no longer there. I have heard great things about Dr Richards. Like Misty said the aftercare is great Christian Ketel usually does the follow ups after surgery and he is very laid back and open so you can tell him anything. I loved the nurses at Vandy after surgery they were very helpful. T o be honest I don't care much for thier support groups at the hospital itself but there are many support groups out there including this board. Wish you the best !
