I spent the morning at ER
I know what was wrong with me yesterday...
NO I am not pregnant... they did the pregnancy test. THANK YA LORD!
I have a kidney stone... so you might as well say I am about to give birth. lol
I had one back in 99 and it was awful... I woke up at 2 am with my stomach and back hurting so bad... couldn't potty... strayed in and out of sleep until 4 or so, then finally got Tim up at 4:30... two days of waiting it out...
Its 2 mm which is small, and they gave me a prescription for pain (which I didnt get filled because its the same thing Dr. gave me for my tummy tuck) and phenergan liquid which I did get for nausea... The stone has come half way down...
I also have another small stone in my kidney. Flush myself with liquids he said..
But I did get a good drink out of it....
I need fluid, and cranberry juice is supposed to be good for stones and kidneys..
8 oz Diet Cranberry Oceanspray
1 scoop Whey Gourmet rasberry
It was wonderful!
Well, well, none of us had that problem on our list!!! I sure am glad that you went ahead and went to the ER. I sure hope you pass those stones quickly and are feeling like yourself real soon!!!
Would chat more, but took a break from my finals, got to get back to them now....... I think I am brain dead!!!!!! LOL

Bless your heart! This was my first thought when you first posted about the pain on your right side. But then you said you were feeling better after going...you know, so I thought it was "the other" problem.
I always get pain in the right lower quadrant when I have a kidney stone on the move. Drink like a fish sweetie. My urologist told me that a gallon of water is not too much when you are trying to flush a stone.
Did they give you a strainer to try and catch the stone for testing? My uro also told me that adding fresh, or real, lemon juice to my water would help reduce the formation of stones.
Sleep, drink and pee sweetie! Sleep, drink and pee!

Hi Melanie, I am sorry you are going thru this. They are painful little suckers. I started having them in 1988, it had to be blasted at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. I have had 13 so far and only passed one. I have one in my left kidney that is 4 mm, it's been there about 4 years. They can't get to it to blast it until it tries to pass or gets 6 mm where they will go in and remove it. I see my urologist in Knoxville of Tuesday to find out if it's getting bigger.
My urologist told me to drink plenty of lemonade as this keeps the stones from forming. They always attack me around midnight.
I went to Backyard Burger there in Gallatin and here's their recipe.
3 c. of sugar (splenda)
1 1/2 c. of lemon juice
one gallon of water.
I can't keep it in the fridge when I make it. Everyone loves it. I don't put real lemons in the pitcher just in the glasses, as it makes the lemonade the next day too sour. I'm just surprised that the chemo pills that are making calcification stones in my body haven't found their way to my kidneys yet, just my pancreas, and under my skin.
Just know this, it's harder on a man to pass the stones then for a woman, and most don't pass but have to be removed by cystoscopic procedure. All 13 times I was admitted into the hospital, put on a pain pump, and given a hat and strainer so if it passed they could see what is making them. Most of the time it's too much calcuim in the system. That's why I can't take calcium supplements, as my chemo pills put too much calcium in my system as it is. Cranberry juice basically helps flush out an infection in the kidneys, but lemonade keeps them from forming.
I'll keep you in my prayers. Love Ya, Kathy

Kathy,
I do not mean to sound harsh, but I believe you are speaking about Melinda, I have problems with names myself, but I just wanted to make sure you understood that her name is Melinda, not Melanie!!
Please do not take this wrong, I would hope someone would straighten me out if I was saying someone's name incorrectly. God knows what a problem I have with remembering names!!!!! LOL

Bless your heart, I know you are in pain. If you can't tolerate cranberry juice, AZO makes a cranberry pill that you take with plenty of water. I am notorious for having stones (had surgery twice, one 9mm and 1 month later 7mm) so I take the cranbeerry pills religiously.
I will say a prayer that the stones gets to rolling.

I have done pretty well all day... doctor gave me a liquid phenergan for nausea and I already had the exact pain med that he prescribed. I had to remind him though that I was a gastric bypass patient, and I preferred liquid medicines... and he rewrote his originals for mepergan and phenergan suppository.
Anyway, I rested today... drank a lot, didn't eat a lot, but drank a lot.
