WATER
Ok ppl.... I have decided that today I was going to start testing myself with sipping water. I have been sipping my water since 8:00 this morning at work. And I've only getting in about 20 oz. I am going to keep doing this so I can be use to it.
But how in the world!!! I don't see how I'm going to get as much water as I'm suppose to! How do you do it?

Yea I had maybe 20 oz of tea..... at lunch.... that's another thing I need to start practicing is eating my meals without a drink. I believe that is going to be the hardest for me. But I figured to try starting one thing at a time. Maybe Monday I'll start that one.

I already had a high protein diet because of the metformin pills I'm on.... but I do need to get some other things to start making protein shakes and things. I've been looking at alot of posts and seeing which ones everyone seems to like best I wanted to come tomorrow. But unfortunatly hubby got other plans. Maybe next time. How often does the Lunch Bunch get together?

Some of the best advice I got: Just keep in mind that your tastes will change after surgery, so what tastes good now, might not then. Don't stock up too much - just in case that happens. You'd hate to spend a couple hundred dollars on stuff (easy to do!) that you just can't stand afterward!
The Lunch Bunch gets together once a month - the 2nd Saturday of every month at 1pm. Only the location changes...

That is a great idea making new habits in preparation. :) It is somewhat difficult to get all the fluids in at first as a newbie. I remember that I was scared to take more than baby sips for the longest time. I was only getting in 40oz of water a day (not nearly enough!) and I worried about it all the time. I literally sipped around the clock..I would wake up all through the night and sip, sip, sip. I went to my 1 month f/u after my RNY and Dr. Olsen was asking me if I was getting in my protein and water and I told him that I was having a hard time getting all of the water in and he was like well you are a month out now you should be able to take a 'real' drink. lol And he made me take a big ol' gulp right there. (I was so scared that I would break my pouch - lol) So I did it - big drink...and it was the oddest feeling...reminded me of liquid being poured through a funnel. lol Anyways, after that I've never had a problem getting in my water.
I remember being so cautious about my new pouch....I just knew I was going to break it. lol It takes a bit of getting used to...but you'll get the hang of it. :)
Btw, I still am reminded of a funnel in my belly every time I drink a bunch at 1 time. lol
Good luck!

You are doing the right thing, anything that you can do pre-surgery will only help you afterwards. Just take the water with you everywhere you go and sip, sip, sip. You can also start trying to chew your food bites more and better. I can only get up to 20 before I have to swallow. Hey, was that you and hubby at Baptist Thursday nite, kinda in the corner? I wasn't sure if it was and I was running my mouth (DH says I do that well) and the next thing I knew I seen ya'll leaving. Sorry you can't make it tomorrow, but maybe next time, which that will be on 1/26 at Olive Garden in Mt.Juliet.
