I really need to vent
This has been a day and a half today. Started off, my surgeon's office called, and said CIGNA still hadn't given them approval for my procedure, after I was told it had been given. Then I call CIGNA and find out I have three different procedure codes in their system; lap BPD-DS/denied, lap RNY/ approved, and open BPD/pending. After talking to what seemed like a zillion different people, I finally had a very nice young lady in the approval department FINALLY take ownership of the situation. But the killer part was I had to fax her a copy of the approval letter that the Medical Director of CIGNA's National Appeals Unit sent to me. Now I have to wait until tommorrow to see if this last mess is straightened out.. If it isn't straightened out by Friday my surgery will be postponed.
Then the hospital called and let me know that since my former employer has changed their plan (which they didn't tell me about of course) from a 100/80 with no in network deductable to a 80/20 with a $1500.00 deductable and a maximum O O P of $4000.00. This leaves me a hospital balance of almost $2500.00. Luckly they took a $500.00 down payment and will let me make payments on the rest.
I just really needed to vent. I know deep down that everything will be alright. I brought the whine.... you all are responsible for your own cheese and crackerssince I haven't had even a Lean Cuisine all week....GRRRRRR)...LoL

Good morning Doug,
Brother, I have been in your shoes before! CIGNA is my insurance also. It seemed at times I refereed to them as CIGNO !!!! Anyway, this will happen, and as April has said, "It will be worth it in the end"..
If you would like, you can click on the link below and read about my problems with CIGNA, and the "stuff", they put me through!
Have a good day Doug!
An Insurance Time-line!
I have CIGNA too. While my initial experience was a bit rough (denied twice) as soon as I was approved...it has been nothing but smooth sailing. I love my caseworker (Wanda) who calls to check on me from time to time and also is one of my strongest advocates to see that I get everything I need.
It is SOOOO worth it!
Big smile!
Freddie
Hi sweetie, Laura filled me in on a lot of this, I am keeping you both in my prayers that all will work it self out so that you will be having your surgery. Even if it has to be post-poned, God is in control as to when it is the right time for your surgery. Keep us posted.
Love to you and Laura. Kathy
