Possible shooter in our hospital....please pray
We were told that there was a call received in our ER unit that there was a gunman on the way to shoot the ER doctor on duty. Police units arrived and after 3 hours of waiting decided to leave our premises. The man that is suspected of being the shooter arrives in the ER about 5 minutes ago and the registrar hands him the triage paper to fill out and then they call him back directly to the ER and put him in a room where he is now. They are attempting to keep him in the room until 911 arrives. Please pray that he doesn't open fire before then or at all. I am not that close to the ER but I am still scared. Just keep me and the rest of the hospital in your prayers.
Thank you,
Melissa
Thanks everyone for the concern and prayers. Everything turned out fine. The potential shooter said (as they were hauling him off to jail) that he meant the "threat" as only a joke. However we don't take risks on whether it's a joke or not and went ahead and prepared for what could be possible.
Sharon, as far as having a certain procedure to go by, we don't. It just depends on the situation. The only advice I can give you is take all jokes/threats seriously. This guy did have a gun on him. If he was only joking then he must be one heck of a joker. Just be careful. I work at Hillside in Pulaski TN. It's a Lifepoint facility.
