Hi all.  Well, I had my surgery on the 21st and did well.  I did have to have an open procedure so I have a gigantic incision full of staples!  I came home on the 24th.  I had a problem on New Year's Eve with tachycardia so I had to go to the ER here in town. They did a CT and found that I have a pocket of fluid under my incision.  They didn't know if it was an abcess or not, but thought not since I wasn't running a fever or had an elevated white count.  I go back to see my surgeon tomorrow.  I absolutely hate that he is 4 hrs away!  I have also developed an enormous amount of anxiety . I am afraid of everything! What is with that?

Hey Sweet Girlie! Good to see you posting again!  Being afraid of everything is normal.  As you get used to your new body, everything will get back to normal.  You have just had major surgery so it is absolutely normal to be a little anxious. Just take it a day at a time and try to stay calm.  Focus on protein, sipping, and walking.  It is all going to be okay. Take care! Freddie

Hey, sweetie ~ Take a deep breath! You have just been through major surgery - and everything is about to change. Yes, it's about to change for the better (the BEST!), but it's still change. And there is always a part of us that is more comfortable with the familiar - even if it's bad - than with change. And I'm sure having to go to the ER so soon after surgery has added some anxiety as well. But you are going to be just fine!  As Freddie said, just concentrate on taking it a day at a time and try to stay calm.  Focus on protein, sipping, and walking (and rest when you need to!)  That's the best way to take care of yourself right now!  Welcome to 2008 - the best year of your life YET! ~ Tara I do wish your dr was closer to you, too. I know that makes it even harder for you than most of us. But chin up, sweetie, you are gonna be ok!

Hey Marilyn!  Welcome Home, you were missed!  Sorry about the ermengencyt trip to the ER, but I'm glad things are going better. My suggestion as someone who just went trhough this is..... TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME! What you are feeling is perfectly normal.  I have felt it on more than one occassion.  What you need is a nice, comfortable place to sit and rest.  A place to contemplate your new life and all that it is going to bring.  You need a Losers Bench that is splinter free!  So, let this be my gift to you...Welcome to the Losers Bench!

Hey Marylin, I wondered how you was doing. I'm sorry I haven't called you to check on you. You know when we talked last I had strep, well after a few days I did get to feeling a little bit better, but got sick again with bronchittis (sp). Still fighting with it, but starting to get better I think. I also wanted to let you know that we traded our Dollywood day tickets for a season pass, so we will be back and we WILL get together, you here me......LOL. I think I told you wrong on the Losing2Live retreat, I think I told you Falls Creek Falls, when it is actually Montgomery Bell, the dates are correct though 07/18-07/20 hope ya'll can still make it. I hope that you are back on track again and hope you heal up real quick. As far as being afraid, join the club, been there done that and sometimes still do. Stay warm, sip, walk, do as the Dr says, you know the drill....LOL Cheryl
