LAP-Band revision surgery

I had my original LAP-Band surgery March 19th. Several months ago, we discovered that there was a leak somewhere in the apparatus. The insurance finally approved the revision surgery to repair or replace the malufunctioning part(s). I had that surgery on December 19th. I feel relief know that it has now been taken care of. They had to replace a seciton of tubing and the port. Of course I'm still a little sore. The worst part this time has been dehydration after surgery. I can't keep my throat, nasal passages, or eyes wet.  I'm drinking about a gallon of water a day and i'm still haveing some trouble with it. Also, this time the intubation during surgery has caused a raw, sore throat. Has anyone out  there ever had that problem? How long did it take to go away?

I wonder if you could have come down with an upper respiratory bug about the same time as your surgery. The sore throat from the intubation is normal but it usually only lasts for a day or two. This is only day 2 so hopefully you'll start feeling better very quickly. Perhaps some chicken bouillion will help better than water. I'm glad to hear the insurance FINALLY approved the repair surgery. They took their own sweet time didn't they? Feel better sweetie!

I am feeling much better now physically. Mentally, I'm having some trouble. I'm starting to have symptoms of depression. I'm doing everything I can to fight it off. I have no reason to be depressed. Everything is going fine. I've got everything I could possibly want. Well that's a question for my therapist. Thanks for your encouragement.

Vaness, sorry you are feeling so bad, hopefully you will be feeling better in a few days. Try to take small sips of warm tea to helf with your throat.  Glad everything went well with your surgery and you should be very soon on your way to loosing your weight. I also had the lap band in Jan 06 so if you need anything just let me know. Take care. Debbie

Vanessa, I am so happy for you.  I didn't know you were a member of OH.  I came across your message tonight. I don't get on OH often, but I couldn't go to sleep, so here I am- New Year's morning.  I don't know how to do all fo the cutesy things others do.   It's good to hear that your revision was successful.  I hope the dehydration and raw throat have gotten better.  I miss seeing you at REA.  Hope your classes are going well (I'm talking about your Ed.D  8-)!  I also hope you're having a good school year also. Anyway, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and  best wishes for the coming year. Sandra Muggu 341/217/150 SW/CW/GW

Hey. I keep forgetting to email you. I'm feeling fine now. It's just the itchy incision areas now. Classes  are going well. I made a B+ in my first statistics class. I have my second one coming up. We start back on Jan. 12th. School year is going great. I've proud of your progress so far. Just keep it up. I didn't know how to do the cutesy stuff either. I finally just picked someone and asked them where to go and how to do. If you want a little counter, Go to www.tickerfactory.com It will take you step by step to create a unique ticker. Then you just copy and paste into your profile in the section where you set things up. Then it will appear with your messages and posts.  Vanessa
