Hi Sue, I also had Dr. Colquitt, you got lucky, I was on liquids for 3 weeks after surgery. I will be 2 yrs out on January 9th.  I still can only manage 3-4 bites of food and I'm full.  To this day I still don't feel actual hunger, stomach growling, eat something quick feeling.  I eat because I have to 3 times a day and that's it.  Protein and water or other liquids are done between meals.  I have to have 2-4 ozs of milk when I eat or I start choking, well that was before I lost my dentures.  The food wouldn't go past the top plate.  Now I don't need something to drink with my meal. My teeth came up missing after the thigh surgery in October.  But I know if someone scrambles me one egg, I still can't eat it all at one setting.  I leave the room if someone is doing eggs or making coffee, both make me so queasy because of my chemo pills.  You don't want to push yourself on soft foods too much, remember your pouch just went thru major surgery.  Eat some soups in there for part of your fluid intake.  Just be extra careful.  I got the picture I believe you sent me with Annerenee, you, and me at the Oct. luncheon.  If it wasn't you then another Sue sent it to me.  I needed a good laugh yesterday.  I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery.  We had the best surgeon. Merry Christmas.  By the Way, I'll be in the Morristown area Jan. 7-17th.  Maybe we can get up with each other.  I have my 2 year weigh in on the 16th, then I head back to the Nashville area where I will be having 2 disks fusioned on the 21st.  They have to take bone marrow out of my hip to fusion the disks that have herniated.  I'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days, the best part is no housework for a month.  I am only allowed to walk around my apartment, go to the bathroom or kitchen, and then sit back down.  Not even allowed to do dishes, a friend will be coming in to help me during that time.   Wishing you all the best, hope tosee you soon, Love Kathy

Hi Kathy: Thanks for replying.  I think you have me confused with someone else.  I didn't have lunch with you and Annrenee.  Sounds like you've had so much more trouble with this surgery than I'm having.  I've lost 22 pounds in 11 days but I'm always hungry and can sit right down and eat more than I'm supposed to be able to. It's scaring me and I can either be miserable from hunger or miserable by eating enough to satisfy me and then worrying about it. Can you help? Sue

Hi Sue I realized you were the wrong Sue when I noticed you were from Talbot.  The Sue in the picture is from NewPort, TN.  I would talk to Angie the nutrionist or Dr. Colquitt's office.  that will ease your fears.  As for my gastric surgery, it was a breeze for me.  The tummy tuck went great, the thigh reduction well not so great.  The right leg healed with no problems, it's a size 18 and a half inches around, the left developed an infection and has finally healed after 2 months. But it is 19 and a half inches.  There's on little section that the surgeon at the VA Medical Center didn't take off and it's an inch, rubs against the right thigh.  I had no problems from have the gastric surgery, my problems stemmed from being on chemo pills that kept depleting my potassium levels keeping me sick to my pouch for about 5 months.  I have no regrets having the surgery.  It was the best thing I ever did for myself.   I have a real small pouch about the size of a man's thumb, so I can't eat as much as others.  Even when the Nashville lunch bunch get together, I usually order soup, as I can't handle as much as the rest.  That's fine with me, less cooking when I live a lone.  I'm sure everything is fine with you, but check with Dr. Colquitt and Angie the Nutrionist if you should be constantly hungry.  They can help you more then anyone else. I will keep you in my prayers.  Merry Christmas, Kathy

Welcome Home and to the Loser's bench! 16 lbs in a week is great. I am glad you are having no issues with pain. Hope you continue to do well.

OK, here I go again.  I've read all your posts and appreciate all the time you've spent on me, but I'm upset and confused.  I feel hungry all the time.  But now because you all have cautioned me and convinced me I'm eating too much, I won't eat and I'm miserable.  I can still sit down and eat an entire egg and I know that's not supposed to happen.  I was so hungry late last night, I opened a can of potato soup and had a couple ounces of that and that was the first time all day I'd felt satisfied.   Why am I so different that everyone else.  I think having such an easy time of the surgery has been a curse.  I almost think I'd rather be nauseated so I don't want to eat which is what I had expected. I'm worried. Sue
