A Christmas thought........

It is the 3rd Sunday in Advent…the anticipation grows……It appears in the morning sun and the night, which comes wrapped in twinkling lights, both heaven and manmade. As we bring ourselves light and hope in this “Bleak Mid-Winter” let us stop and think about what those hopes are and how they have grown. As an adult my hopes have become more universal instead of those monetary ones that I chose when younger.

I hope: for the end of poverty. For the end of injustice. For the beginning of understanding. For love. For health. For happiness. For fulfillment of the known and the unknown. For laughter. For peace. For belief that a single whish…prayer…hope…dream….can make a difference.

I know…how very childish…optimistic….insane…can I be?..but..isn’t that what Christmas is all about; the fulfillment of a wish….prayer…hope…dream? Put yours out there…reach deep inside….capture that childish glee…..and wish…..pray….hope….dream….and then work to make it happen….in whatever way you can……

I’m usually not so preachy….and I don’t always hold the most popular views but I thought I would end with 2 sections from the Bible….1st being from the Prophet Isaiah and the 2nd ….Luke…Lynus’s part ……. I chose the King James not because I believe it to be the most accurate but because of its lyrical voice.

Isaiah 40 3-5    3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Luke 2 8-14  8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Peace and Love….Keith

Wow so well said. Truly makes you think about the reason for the season in deed. My only wish is to see my friends and Family happy and hope that somewhere up there my mom is watching over us all and smiling...   Thanks for the beautiful thoughts Keith.

God Said No I asked God to take away my habit.

God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up. I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.

God said, No. His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary I asked God to grant me patience.

God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is learned. I asked God to give me happiness.

God said, No. I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you. I asked God to spare me pain.

God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my spirit grow.

God said, No. You must grow on your own! , but I will prune you to make you fruitful. I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.

God said, No. I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.

God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.
