Sorry Men don't mean to offend (Period topic)

Has anyone here had a black period after surgery? I had my surgery 6 days ago and I think I started my period but its black and thick? Should I be concerned? right now I am just confused.

I would not be too concerned, because this does effect our hormones an this may be one of the results, but it would be better considering you just had the surgery that you contact your surgeon and let them make that call, better to be safe than sorry!!! Call now please!! Shelia

I agree with Shelia, best to be sure, but I am pretty sure anytime they put you to sleep and it messes with your hormones it can cause this.  Sometimes surgery causes you to start your period early, or late or even makes it longer. TMI, but I started early due to my knee surgery.  I am about a week early.  So now I have a sore knee, bronchitis and cramps. I am a joy to be around.  LOL darlene

The surgery does throw your period off. A lot of women start the day of the surgery from the stress. I think I had mine two weeks apart after surgery which was weird. And you mentioned hot flashes before so it does sound like your hormones are on the rampage. Although I have never heard about the dark color and that would concern me but more than likely, it is just heavy one from the mixed up hormones.

Must suck being a woman and having to go through all of that . . . stuff.  When it's unpredictable it must be even worse. We men don't have that problem.   Although I did poot from my pecker for a few days after the surgery.
