Children... on death and dying
As you know, I got a call yesterday afternoon that my grandmother was very ill (pneumonia/cancer).
Well, John and I got the boys together to tell them the news. We were talking about how I wanted to get there quick to tell her one more time that I love her, but that she would probably be gone before I could get there.
My 7-yr-old, Harrison, said, "That's ok, Mommy. Just tell Jesus and He will make sure she gets the message when she gets to heaven, 'cause He's already there!"
Isn't that just precious?!
Grandma did go to be with Jesus - just before midnight Colorado-time. It was pain-free, and I praise God for His mercy. She just went to sleep and quit breathing. She is now "all better", as my kids would say.
I have many, many fond memories... and over the next day or two I will post a couple. I don't think I'm going to be able to make it out for the funeral (cha-ching), but Grandpa is turning 90 on Feb. 3rd and I think we will plan to go out for a big celebration then.
Ya'll have a great day - and stay warm!

Tara,
That is so sweet that Harrison thought of that. So sorry about your grandma.
Hugs Ellen
So sorry that you lost your grandma, but through the eyes of a child like Harrison you have been able to receive comfort. That was so sweet, and from talking to you both of your boys are magnificent human beings. Of course I think their mom is pretty grand too. I will keep your family in my prayers.
