I am a Dr. Spaw person.  :-)

Q1.  I am doing very well.   Q2.  I have not had any major bad side effects or complications.  The most bothersome thing is my electrolights are a bit out of wack so, I have had some cramping in my leg muscles.  Q3.  Ham Salad.  Yeck...just the thought of it turns my stomach Q4.  Right now, 10 weeks out, I am eating one main meal that is about 1/2 C of protein, turkey, chicken or fish.  With a bite of veggies here and there.  Q5.  I was in the hospital from Monday until Thursday.  The staff at Baptist was really helpful and kind. Q6.  I was out from work for 3 weeks.  I took it pretty easy until this past week when I went back full time to the gym and have started added other things than walking to my routine.   You will find Dr. Spaw's office very wonderful to work with.

Dr. Spaw did my surgery 22 months ago. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to have any procedure.  How have you done so far ? I have lost more than half of my starting weight. Any bad side effect's/complication's ? None What is anything make's u sick that you could eat before ?   canned tuna...I figure I have eaten more than my share in my lifetime though. I enjoy such a variety of foods that I certainly don't miss tuna fish. How much can you eat ?  Depending on the density, the time of day and the position of the planets, most days I can eat 3/4 to 1 cup of food at a sitting. Some days I eat more and some days I eat less. Kind of like a naturally thin person. How long were you in the hospital ?  2 nights. I had surgery on a Tuesday morning and went home around noon on Thursday. How long were you out of work on medical leave or till you could resume normal activity ? I went back to work, 1/2 days, 12 days post-op. I started full days after another 2 weeks. I have a desk job and my boss was very protective of my energy level. It took about 2 months for my energy level to get back to normal.  Good luck with your approval.

I personally don't think you could find a better surgeon than Dr. Spaw. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Spaw.   I had the RNY so I can only speak on that surgery...but I've heard that Dr. Spaw is the only Surgeon in Nashville that does the DS.   I'm 6 months out and have lost 88lbs.  I haven't had any complications.  I've really been able to eat most things I've tried although I have followed the rules.  Like Susan said the amount I can eat varies...but no matter how much when you're full ...you're full.  I was in the hospital for 2 nights and was off work for 2 weeks.

Rest assured, if Dr. Spaw is involved...you are in wonderful hands.  I had my RNY on July 23rd of this year.

I have done fabulous.  I have had no bad side effects and no complications.  As a matter of fact, I woke up from the surgery rather perky!  I was ready to get on with it and as soon as I could get unhooked...I was up and walking the floor.  I had chili when I came home from the hospital and I added my usual jalapenos with no problem.  My surgery was on a Monday and I went home on Wednesday.  Dr. Spaw said that I probably could have gone home on Tuesday because I was doing so well.  I didn't like the pain pump so he switched me to pills on Tuesday morning.  No problem swallowing pills (one day after surgery!)  I could easily have gone back to work the week after my surgery but I had so much leave time built up,,,I stayed out for several weeks,  I resumed most of my activities a week after surgery,  Also, I walked out of the hospital after my surgery and carried my own flowers!  I didn't want to ride in the wheelchair and was fortunate that they didn't make me,  I've been walking and loving my life every since,

Dr, Spaw is the best!  You will love him!

Good luck!

Freddie
