Ok, this is sort of a Wow moment and a Rant all wrapped up into one thing.   I teach school....eehhh.... Wow moment first:  One of my parents finally noticed and has asked if I would like a new skirt she bought that is way to long for her short legs and cannot be hemmed up.  I have taught her daughter for 2 of 3 years so I know her pretty well and was glad that someone finally noticed...cuz 8th graders barely know I am in the room when I am teaching.    Now for the Evil parent.  Ok, here is the set up.  We have several boys who are wrestling and they have been told by their coach that they are not allowed to eat on weigh in days.  So, I am not a brain surgeon, but they aren't drinking water or having anything until after 6pm so they can "meet their goal."  The other day I called the parents to let them know that their son's hadn't been eating all week.  One mother wrote me an email telling me that as an "Overweight" person I don't understand the concept of only eating when you are hungry.  (Guess she hasn't noticed I have lost some weight lately.)  She continued to tell me that she was raised that way and no one in her family is over weight or unhealthy.  She wrote that they eat dinner at four in the afternoon so the meal has time to digest fully, unlike most overweight people who tend to eat sometime after six or later.  She continued to assure me that her son would be healthy since he was raised with the same healthy values that she was raised with and her parents were both 70 and thin AND still actively playing tennis.  She ended the email  reminding me one more time that she, her husband and two sons were all healthy and thin and I needn't worry about their lack of weight issues.   Ok, maybe I am just being too sensitive...but I thought that she was VERY rude.  Lovely

Congrats on the WOW.  That parent was R U D E !!!!!   I too have had parents like that and we both know that all we can do is grin and bear it.  She will get hers one day though.  As for the coach, he is breaking rules I believe.  Isn't it against athletic rules to tell kids not to eat on weigh in days?  I think it is or at least should be.  Try and have a great weekend. WOW! and wow! WOW! Woohoo! Gotta love those parents who are an encouragement and supportive. wow! Is she for real?? She considers it NORMAL for her teenage son to not eat for a week? My guess is that that whole family has an eating disorder but because "she was raised that way" she considers it normal.  You did your part in trying to bring it to her attention. Bru**** off and move on. She's gonna eat her words when you get to goal! You're doing great and my guess is that the kids will notice. They don't notice much that is outside of their little world revolving around them but the day will come when they will comment. If my 9 year old grandson can notice, I have hope for 8th graders. (evil little creatures that they are - LOL)

Ok, at the risk of sounding silly... Oh no she didn't!!!!!!!!!  Moppie, you don't need to listen to people like that.  Just know that you are making progress, you are wonderful and that woman will be literally eating her words in just a matter of months.  I kind of think that its these kind of people that fuels our motivation.  Just use the anger and frusteration in a positive way.   And no, you're not being sensitive.  Don't get mad, get even...or something like that.  lol!
