I have a date! (and a couple questions)

Ok, I have a date of 12/03. Wow, that's right around the corner!

I also was wondering, of Lap RNY folks who had no complications how
much help did you need that first week you were home? I mean do I need
to have my husband stay home from work, or will I be ok for 7 hours or
so by myself. I am trying to figure out how much I really want him
under foot if he doesn't have to be, I imagine I might be a little
grumpy (pain medicine usually makes me very irritable).

Also, I forgot to ask while I was at the center today, can my husband
stay with me at the hospital?

As always, I think you in advance for your thoughtful answers I
appreciate you all so much. Does anyone work at the VA?

At Centennial, you can have someone stay in your room.  I love Dr. Houston.  He did my surgery too.  His nickname is "hottie" by the way. haha Anyway, my mom took care of me when I came home from the hospital.  She went back to work I think two days later, but my dad was there to help if I needed help.

My husband stayed with me in Baptist and I know my son-in-law stayed with my daughter when she had a surgery at Centennial recently. I think most hospitals allow a family member to stay now. I came home from the hospital on a Thursday and hubby went back to work the following Monday.

Hey Angela! We have the same surgery date!!! Yippee !!! Congratulations   It's gonna be here before we know it.

Hi Angela, Haven't seen you post in awhile!  Congrats on the date!  If you remember, I work upstairs on 2N.  Working nights, usually 1930-0800.  If I can be of any assistance, let me know. I had my surgery at Baptist and my mom stayed overnight with me.  I hadn't asked her to, but when she saw me after they wheeled me out of surgery, she immediately decided to stay with me!!  haha  I now know what my corpse will look like; and I didn't have any complications.  Just very pale and completely out of it. Good luck and keep us posted.  

Thanks, I try to be more active on the forums, but I find myself reading a lot more than writing. Too much going on in my head to actually write down, I guess.

Good Morning Angela!

I had complications while in the hospital, needed blood etc, but not when I got home.  I did not have Scott spend the night with me, as he patiently put it, that is what the nurses are for, and he was right.  They will take great care of you at Centennial.  When Scott has his in Dec. I will not be spending the night either, that's what the nurses are for.  You will be fine.  When you get home you will want to rest and that's the best thing to do.  Send hubby to work if he needs to go and have bottled water near your chair to sip sip sip, and walk walk walk to the kitchen for your yummy Unjury protein.  That first week will go by so quickly.  If you like chocolate and can afford the price, buy some Matrix chocolate protein for week two.  It will make all the difference in the world!  I was cheap and bought the WalMart brand and it doesn't compare to Matrix.  I mix mine with cold coffee and some other stuff, YUMMO, cheap acheive one.  Have a great day and you will be fine. Hi, Angela, I just had  my surgery Oct. 30, at Centennial, my husband stayed with me.  That is the best hospital, and the nurses were super!  Couldn't have asked for better.  I had no complications, very little pain, so when I went home I could do a lot for myself. Just don't overdo it. I have done this a couple of times and you will know it when you do.  Best wishes to you for your surgery. Colette
