Hey Melissa! I enjoy the eliptical machine and try to do 30-45 minutes on it...but I wasn't able to do that until a few months ago and had to build up to using it.  I did a combo of the treadmill and stationary bike at first, then did water aerobics.  I also enjoy Zumba classes at the Y.  It's a Latin aerobics dance class that is fun and good for all fitness levels.  I've also done African dance classes at the Y and really want to try belly dancing.  I try to do at least one aerobic class a week and work out 5 days a week.  I also add weights in at least one day a week.  Just start slow, build on your workouts, and try to vary the routines by adding extra time or resistance.  Your muscles get used to the workouts and it may slow down the weight loss if you don't vary the routine (just a helpful tip from my brother the asst. athletic director). -Alyssa

Hi Melissa. At 2 months post-op, I do not believe I was doing much. But I think I was a bigger  baby after surgery than most. I really lacked energy a LOT but that was primarily from lack of protein. So, I was primarily just walking a little at that time.  Then about three months post-op, I joined Countours Express. A womens only circuit gym (like Curves). That incorporated weight training with aerobics. I started slow and built up there. One thing I would reccoment is to start some sort of strength training when you can because it will help some with preventing sagging skin. The Walking tapes (Walk away the pounds or something like that) are really good. I have done those. I just learned about them a couple months ago. I wish I had known more about them when I was first pre-op. You should try one of those and you can do it in your own house! Now, I am into jogging so I have been doing that. I will also do that on the treadmill and I have been using a stationary bike and the eliptical some.  You just have to find something you enjoy and can stick with.

Melissa, I just got some walking in.  I would walk  a little while (as long as I could) a few times a day.  As I built up strength I would walk more at each time.  Walking 2 Darlene
