MRSA info on it I have been asked what it is and what it stands for.
this is the 3rd time I have tried to post this and everytime I have placed the heart for the link it has kicked me over there. grrrr ok this is what MRSA stands for MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylo****us aureus.
I really feel people need to learn about it education ourselves to fight this ulgy germ its also called the super bug, it use to be mainly in the hospitals and now its showing up in more and more places,
Doctors says that if they treat it with the few antibotics that they have for it, It will go away but it really doesnt it goes dorment and rares its ugly head when your immune system is to low to fight , Please make yourseleves away of this and maybe with more and more people understanding it we all can fight it together.

MRSA is no joke! I had sinus surgery this year and ended up with MRSA pneumonia which in turn led to MRSA sepsis (MRSA in the bloodstream causing a massive infection). I was in the hospital for 11 days, on IV Vancomycin for 3 more weeks, and am still on oral and inhaled antibiotics 5 months later!
I am about to be able to get off my antibiotics, but I am concerned about the MRSA rearing its ugly head again when I have my bariatric surgery. Of course, I am going to insist of Vancomycin before and after surgery! I have been an RN for about 25 years, so I probably had MRSA colonized in my nose before surgery and that is maybe how I got it. But, I could have gotten it at the hospital...so make sure everyone that is taking care of you is very careful!!!

I have a family member that has suffered for several years after she had surgery and develped MRSA, she has been on Vancomycin several times, but never any opral or inhaled antibiotics, could you let me know what you are taking so I may pass that on to her to ask her doctor about. She is also overweight and has been so excited for me, but scared to have the surgery and the MRSA plays a big part in her fear, because it still 4 years later causes a lot of health problems for her.
Thanks for the info!! Shelia

I have had several cultures and sensitivities done. For me, I was sensitive to Vancomycin, Bactrim, and Gentamycin. I did about 4 weeks of Vancomycin, and since then have been on Bactrim orally. I started the gentamycin nasal spray three times a day about 2 months ago. It seems to really help. I would have liked to take more Vanc to knock this thing out, but my infectious disease doctor doesn't want to use it since it is my "antibiotic of last resort".
