Cigna and those darn requirements
I have CIGNA and I have never heard of anyone being approved without meeting the criteria they determined as a prerequisite. I was denied twice...once because I had only 4 months of supervised diet and once when I had 6-months of physician supervised diet plan but it was not detailed enough. There are no short cuts. I ended up changing to a different surgeon and after re-writing the documentation of the 6-month physician supervised diet plan, I was approved within a week. CIGNA is very particular but as long as you follow the rules, they are easy to deal with! Good luck! Freddie
Not that I am aware of. I tried it. Actually, I did not know about the 6 month Cigna requirement because it was not required in my insurance plan. So after going about 8 months through all of the tests and requirements, I was denied because I did not have the 6 months. They told me it did not matter if it was or wasn't written into my personal plan, I had to do it because it was a Cigna requirement. So, I had to wait another 6 months to do that. If I had known that, I would have been doing it during the 8 months that I was going through everything else. I would think the only people who had gotten approved by Cigna without it was probably overlooked and got lucky. So, it never hurts to try! But don't get your hopes up. I was approved within a few days after resubmitting after my 6 months diet. Good luck on your approval!
