Hi everybody! I posted this on the lap band board too,  but thought I would check with you all I am only 3 days out of surgery and I am starving!  It just started today, and I am getting my liquids in but nothing is helping with the hunger!  Has anyone experienced this?  I still have until Saturday before I can have solid liquids!  I am going to starve! Any advice would be appreciated! Bambi

Good morning Iwas just passing thur here and saw yout post I was so hungry by the 4th day after surgery, I was ready to eat the legs off the dining room chairs and could not think staight.. in desperation I began having about a handful of low fat mozzereall acheese  which  turns to lquid quickly in your mouth after chewing andtakingsmall amounts at a time. This got me thruIjust don't  know how other lapbanders if they are being  thruthful ...get thru this period without having any real food AnywayI never went on the preop diet either I did go on a 2 day liquid diet  right before surgery . I lost 23pounds in less than 6 weeks so I guess I did ok . have now lost about 83pounds . We just have to do what we feel is best for ourselves at time .Good luckI  know what you are going thru and you will get thru it!

Hi Bambi. I am not 100% familiar with the Lapband but my cousin had the lapband a few weeks ago. If I am not mistaken, they do not even give you the first fill in the band for a few weeks after surgery. So right now, you do not have any restriction with the exception of any swelling from the band being placed on. I would think it is normal for you to be hungry now that you have recovered from surgery. I would assume the hunger will subside once you get your first fill. in the meantime, did your surgeon give you an eating plan as far as what to eat right now?  I would say to stick to the eating plan and focus on getting in all your fluid and protein first and foremost. Try to stick to a healthy eating plan. Experiment with different protein shakes. Those usually will help with hunger. Good luck and I wish you much success on your weight loss. Welcome to the losing side.
