I am running low on my calcium tablets and it is time to get more.  The last time I bought any, I bought Bariatric Advantage chocolate flavored chewables.  I'm wondering if I can find the same thing locally (Vitamin Shoppe or GNC).  Any ideas?  What do ya'll use? Chewable or swallow? Flavored or unfalvored?  All ideas accepted! Beth

I use the Viactiv calcium . They are chewable and flavored like chocolate. They have 500mg or Vitamins D and K.  The last time I had my blood work done the calcium levels were wonderful. They taste like a piece of candy. I don't even look at them like a vitamin but like a treat since they taste so good. Hope this helps you. Brenda I forgot to tell ya where you can get them. You can get them at Walmart target or places like that. And they are reasonably priced!!!

I set myself a new goal. I can do it! I am going to do it!!!!

You might want to switch over to Citracal Creamy Bites. They are calcium citrate and Viactiv are calcium carbonate. We don't absorb the calcium carbonate well. The Creamy Bites also come in a chocolate that is to die for. I also love the Lemon.

Hi Susan,   Where do you get the citracel creamy bites?  The chocolate sounds good.

Next time I may need to try the Viactiv if they taste that good. First I was on Citrical, but they were  only 400mg and I never did get all my calcium in cuz I was trying to take it 3x a day. Then I got smart and started splitting them and taking one and a half. DUH!!! I just bought a huge bottle of "Calcium with Vit. D" from Sams. They are 600mg gelcaps and there are 200 in the bottle. So it will be a few months before I need any.  I will be interested, as well, to see what everyone uses... ~ Tara

Like Susan mentioned, you may be careful about taking Viactive. They are calcium carbonate and you really should take calcium citrate. The citrate is better for absorbtion and your Dr will tell you to take citrate. I like the citracal chews personally.

As I told Brenda about the Viactiv, it is calcium carbonate and we need calcium citrate. We no longer have enough of the stomach acid required for our bodies to properly absorb calcium carbonate. Creamy bites are even better than Viactiv, in my opinion, and they are calcium citrate. Yes, we do need 3 - 4 of them per day due to malabsorption. And, they do need to be spread out during the day and taken 1 hour apart from iron. Since they come individually packaged, they are easy to carry in my purse and I have them as a little "candy" treat throughout the day. Check your calcium from Sam's. My guess is that it too is carbonate. If you haven't opened it, you may want to take it back. I got a chewable from The Vitamin Shoppe that are fruit flavored like Sweettarts. I'll bring some of them to the support group meeting tomorrow night and let you try them if you like. I'll also bring you a couple of the Creamy Bites. I buy my Creamy Bites at Rite Aid. I know some people have found them at Wal-Mart but mine doesn't carry them.

Hey Susan: Are the ones from the Vitamin Shoppe gritty like the Bariatric Advantage?  I use both the Citracel chews and the wild cherry flavor Bariatric Advantage.

I've never tried the Bariatric Advantage. I'll just bring a bottle of the ones I got from The Vitamin Shoppe to the support group meeting tomorrow night and let you try one. A little extra calcium never hurt anyone.
