I HAVE A DATE!!!

Finally, after jumping through all the appropriate hurdles, I now have a surgery date of December 11.  Like everyone before me, I guess, I'm excited and scared to death.  What if this doesn't work for me; what if I have physical complications...and I have 7 weeks to worry about it. The big thing with me is that I don't want to be hungry any more. Please tell me I won't be hungry. Sue

Congratulations Sue!! We all have had the fear that we will be the one person this surgery will not work for. As for hunger, I can tell you that for me I had no physical hunger at all for about the first 7 - 8 months.  Now when I get hungry it is time to eat and it's not the same as it was. It is now a controllable hunger. If I can't have what I want, I can wait to eat until I find something I do want. Whereas before I would eat whatever I could get my hands on and just keep eating until I was stuffed. It's like I told my surgeon, I don't eat anything that isn't wonderful. My food has to earn pouch space now. If I take a bite of something and it isn't what I want, I stop. I'm not wasting valuable pouch space on crap. Head hunger may be a different issue. I was so disgusted with how I was eating pre-op that I still can't look at commercials for those foods without being totally grossed out. If food commercials are a problem for you, find something else to do. Go for a walk, come talk to us, read, work on crafts, find something to do to get you away from in front of the TV even if it's just during the commercials. You can get in a lot of walking in a day if you walk around the house during the commercials of just one hour long TV show. Good luck sweetie. Do you have someone to post for you and let us know how things go while you are in the hospital? If you would like to PM me a contact phone number or your email so I can send you my number to have someone call, I would be happy to post an update for you. Susan
