hey everyone I have gone through alot of recipes looking for a COMPLETE surgar free recipe for a pumkin pie, a cake of some sort and I have looked to buy  but havent had any luck any ideas, the recipes I have seen still call for some sort of sugar,  the splenda brown sugar is a mixture its not all sugar free, I would like to bake a few things for Thanksgiving, with me and the surgery and my daddy a diabetic, I was before surgery. So any one that can give me any help thankyou thank you. Annrenee I live in knoxville and so I can not go to the sf store in Nashville, We do not have anything like that around here.  I have no clue what the sf store sells. Annrenee

First of all, the sugar free store here in Nashville has closed. I have been making a sugar free pumpkin pie for years. I use the Libby's recipe on the can of Pure Pack Pumpkin and replace the sugar measure for measure with Splenda granular. I have had no problem.  Now, this is not going to be carb free due to the crust and the carbs in the pumpkin, but there is no difference in taste or texture using all Splenda granular. The Splenda granular is different than the Splenda for baking which is a mixture of sugar & Splenda. Last year I made this in a crustless version by baking the filling in 4 oz custard cups using a water bath. It was wonderful and very pouch friendly. I intend to try making a pumpkin bread and gingerbread. I'll post the recipes if they turn out good.

I haven't tried it yet. Maybe this weekend. I'm ready to start testing some new recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hubby and I are going to my mom's for Thanksgiving this year. This will be the first Thanksgiving I have spent in Iowa since I was a little girl. (My mom moved back to her home town she and my dad divorced.) My grandma is gone now but I still have 2 aunts, my mom, baby brother and a host of cousins in the area. I'm hoping for a light snow while we are there!! Anyway, mom is diabetic so I'm going to try making a sugarfree jellied cranberry sauce. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

If at all possible, I would try to make a pie... pre-made SF ones are usually loaded with sugar alcohol *blech* I have horrible reactions to sugar alcohol and know of lots of other post-ops who do. Also, I would steer clear of the crust with you being so early out... limit your carbohydrate intake as much as possible.

Annrenee ~ my only thought is that you might go out on splenda.com and see if they have any recipes. I was out there a few days ago looking for a cake recipe to fix my hubby for his b-day. I baked one today - we haven't tried it yet, though. I will let you know how it turns out...   ~ Tara

Maypril, your right I am gonne try some recipes of my own, Tara, I have been on the splenda site and have picked out some recipes I am gonne try to adjust for more of a sugar free,  like Susan said the baking splenda is a mixture of sugar and splenda and the brown sugar is also a mixture.  Let me know how your cake turned out and the recipe and I will do the same  I did also go on the davinci site for recipes and I am gonna try some there too.  Thanks for all your inputs. Hi Annerenee!

When I am having guests...I make sugar free cheesecake.  You can get good recipes from the Splenda site or the Cheesecake Factory sells Splenda sweetened ready made cheesecake.  If you want a "real" crust...use Joseph's sugar free cookies or Murray's sugar free vanilla wafers.

Delish!

Freddie
