Long Distance Surgery

Hi,  My name is Marilyn.  I live in east Tennessee.  I have chosen Dr Randall Bolar as my surgeon.  Mainly because I have to have a revision and he has successfully done hundreds of them.  He is about 4 hours from me.  Has anyone traveled to have surgery and how did that go?  Has anyone used Dr. Bolar and how was that?  I have my first appt with him next week.

I did travel, but now as far as you are.  I traveled about 2 1/2 hours away, I didn't have any complications at all.  I was a little tired after traveling for the first few visits but otherwise had no problems.

Hi Marilyn, I had surgery (Lap-RNY) 3.5 years ago, also 4 hours from my home. My surgeon was in Johnson City, Dr. Scot****son. I was 3 days in the hospital and traveled home through 6 inches of snow and the streets of Knoxville that were under construction (and always ARE). The ride home was a tad uncomfortable but kept hugging my pillow through the construction. My only real advice is to get pain medicine in you last thing before you leave the hospital. I didn't and had to go to a local Walgreens for my prescrip to be filled which took over an hour. So save yourself the hassle and get one last dose before leaving the hosp to go home.
