Coffee question

Ok, I know I'm so going to get slammed for this one...but does anyone out there drink caffinated coffee? I heard when I was at Dr. McDowell's on Friday, that the reason I may be having frequent urination and increased thirst could be contributed to my am coffee intake (leaded kind, not unleaded).  I just don't know if I can give it up! Input please, and be kind, don't fuss at me too much.

Alyssa, I drink 2-4 cups of caffeinated coffee every morning and have for the past 4 months with no side effects. I have several post op friends that drink the same amount that I do and have no problems either.  Personally I like the side effects of the frequent urination that goes along with the coffee but thats just me. I am not a water drinker. I have never cared for water personally. I get my fluid intake in other ways like iced tea, coffee, sf popsicles, etc. Karen PS. It was nice to meet you at the walk on Saturday.

Fully leaded, extra bold, Starbucks junkie here!!  Coffee 2  I start my day at 5am with a cappuccino made with 2 shots of espresso and a scoop of Nectar Cappuccino protein powder. I have a cup of regular coffee about 9 and another about 2:30 in the afternoon. I keep my Starbucks coffee and french press at my desk. That was one question I had for Dr. Spaw before surgery, "Can I still have my coffee." He told me yes and I was good to go. One of my biggest fears was that my tastes would change and I wouldn't like coffee anymore. I do take my Pepcid religiously and have never had a problem. If it makes you thirsty, drink some water. Frequent urination? Define "frequent", are you going more than once per hour? Personally, when I am drinking my water like I should, I am in the potty about every hour or so. I got your back on the coffee deal sweetie. I am not a nice person when you take away my coffee!!

This is a relief! Thanks.   As far as "Frequent" urination...8-10 times at work? and then nearly wetting myself when I get home.   Definite overactive bladder issues here.

I asked my dietician this same question today.  I like to drink coffee in the fall and winter, just one cup a day, but nice and strong, with caffiene.  Within a few days I started having heartburn all day, but very mild.  I do take Prevacid which has helped.  I don't count it towards my water intake, and yes, it keeps me running to the bathroom.  As it is, I refuse to give it up, and since they do fills on my lapband under fluroscopy, I am not worried about it.
