Six Month Update

Hey all! Just wanted to update everyone on the life of Joe.

I had my six-month visit with Dr. Houston last Thursday and everything is going great. As of this morning I am down 140 pounds, which means that I am three pounds lighter than I was when I started my sophomore year in high school! My blood pressure is just about perfect – without medication, I no longer need my CPAP, and my knees and back feel better than they have in years! I've got to tell you, I love hearing those five little words…"Keep doing what you're doing."

Not that the past few months have all been perfect. The first of the month I went out of town to visit my best friend for his 40th birthday and like everyone else who has been on any type of diet, I allowed myself to become convinced that calories on the road don't have the same impact as calories at home. (Funny how the mind works, isn't it?) Had I only misbehaved for one day, it probably wouldn't have been too bad. The whole five-day trip was a different story. When I got back home I had gained almost eight pounds!  I felt like such a failure, especially with my visit with Dr. Houston coming up in less than two weeks. Fortunately I got my butt back in gear and got with the program again. Reading everyone's stories here helped keep me motivated, so a big thanks to all of you!

Look forward to seeing everybody this Saturday at the walk!

Thanks everyone. Y'all help keep me on track, so I owe a part of my success to my wonderful support system. I've also posted a new blog on my OH page about where my motivation comes from. If you are interested, check it out and please feel free to comment.
