OK just for the record I work for tennessee pride and apparently they have an exclusion.

"No payment will be made for any charges which are incurred for services, treatment, or surgical

procedures rendered in connection with any overweight condition including, but not limited to,

gastric by-pass." What does this mean exactly I know that they say they won't pay and i have a call into our plan coordinator about possibly changing the exclusion but will it help and what should i do exactly to see if they will pay??? It seems like everyone from my PCP to the people at the WLS center have given up on my insurance. What should I do any suggestions??? Any help would be greatly appreciatted. Stacey

Good Morning Stacey,   Unfortunetly it means they won;t pay for surgery.  I went through the same thing when my husband worked for a small grocery store chain.  I had to wait until I got a job with insurance to cover it.  Is there any chance of changing insutance companies during open enrollment?  Most large companies have at least two insurances to choose from.  Good luck in your journey, it is well worth the wait. The bad thing is they only offer 1 Insurance carrier. I am trying to talk to them about maybe changing the exclusion when they renew our contract in october. If they don't then I will more than likely be looking for a new job. or into self pay which will suck. Well thanks for your support I guess in the near future i will be job hunting.  Stacey

OK   UPDATE TIME!!!!! I talked to my insurance coordinator at the main office this morning and they are fixing to start there meetings on the insurance policy and exclusions in the next few days. She said that this particular exclusion would be up for debate and to look for it in our insurance packets.. So at least they are considering it..  Hopefully my prayers will be answered and they will change the exclusion... Well good luck to all.. Stacey

I was gonna let you know that I went through that last yr. when my hubby's company got a new insurance company.  Policies change every three months.  Keep on them, call the insurance company, talk to you HR,or insurance agents.  Anybody that will listen,, make them.  I was so let down last yr. when it happened to me, I didn't know about the changes, a friend of mine told me.
