*wavesss* HI! I have a Lap Band! I get my first fill on Thursday! I am very excited! There is a Lap Band Board here too, so be sure to read it! I have done so well, it has amazed me! I did have some yuck shoulder pain, but even that has greatly improved. I would do it again in a heart beat! I look forward to every step this journey takes me! So far, I have not crushed any pills. I am able to swallow them.  I don't know if that will change after a couple fills or not. God will guide you to the best decision for you. Plz do read all about Lap Band and RNY. Then I pray you will be shown the right choice just for you. No one can make that decision but you and maybe your doctor. I had my surgery at Baptist in Nashville and Dr Spaw is my doctor. He is the sweetest and most wonderful surgeon to me. Everyone will say the same about their surgeons I think. Welcome and hugs!

I have a lapband done by Dr. Houston.  The seminar will answer many of your questions.  The aftercare program at Cent. is GREAT! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hello nurse ,glad to meet you!! IF you really want to learn all about the lap band you should go to the lap band forum...  simply go to the top of this page click on Forums then scroll down to lap band... there you will get all the help and support you need This  lap band site has truly helped me in so many ways most weight loss information  on all  the state boards are RNY patients and our problems and issuses are so much different !!That  said ....Yes I had the lapband  in Nashville Tn. and Dr David Dyer is my surgeon. I have now lost 75 pounds  and hope to lose 50 more! Would i do it again?? Absolutely ...I could not have lost this weight without it > I am 11months out and hope to lose a few more pounds by my bandiversary  making it 80pounds lost.. One of the great things about lapband is you can lose weight even 5 years later, also if you feel you have lost enough weight you either maintain with your present fill or even have a little fill taken out depending on  how you feel, I have so much more energy and feel and look so much better.. I have been fat and thin at least 7 times but slowly the weight always crept back  But,this time ,off for good. I finally have  real control over the amount and choice of food I put into my mouth .!!   I simply do not get  as hungry or feel i like just have to have a little something extra..especially in between meals ..Congratulations on your decision  ! If I can be of any assistance ... please contact me >.

As far as for crushing pills i did that for about the first 4 or 5 months then dicovered I did really did not needto  crush my pills. Some pottassium pills I simply snap in half but now find i really do not need to that that anymore either The longer you are out... the easier it gets! I also can eat most things must smaller bites with chicken and pork and learn to slow down on your chewing till your tummy catches up

I had lap band Feb.12 2007 at Baptist East with Dr george Woodman. I did great with the surgery and since the surgery. It was out patient and I never had to go to bed after the first day. I had to pay for my surgery and if I had it to do all over again I would certainly have it again. I have lost 90 lbs but I have slowed down alot. But Iwould recommend Dr. Woodman for the surgery. He is a very aggressive Dr. in his counseling but I like this. It keeps me going. I have 50 more pounds to go but I have a new lease on life. This is the first time that when I eat I don,t get hungry. Go for the surgery.
