My hair keeps falling out!

I knew up front that there would be some hair lose.  I'm almost 6 months out, and this has been an issue for about 2 months now.  I have increased my protein.  What else can I do?  Is this something that I just have to wait out?  I just figured that by now it would be getting better and not worse.  I keep getting wads of hair everyday.

I'm four months out and have had minimal loss of hair, but I take a Biotin vitamin everyday.  This is supposed to help prevent hair loss.  Of course the biotin does not work on everybody, just ask Scott!!    Good luck. Beth

I'm at month four and have had this same issue for the past month....   but I haven't lost so much that most people notice, at least not yet....  so biotin?  Where do you get it and how much of a dosage?

I got my Biotin at GNC, and I got the store brand.  It's a sublingual, under the tongue, type of vitamin.  1 a day in the a.m. with the rest of my vits.   Have a good afternoon. Beth

I am 4 1/2 onths out and I have had the hair loss problem so bad that I had it cut. I had long hair and now it is way above my shoulders. I was told to increase my protein and to take biotin. It has helped some and I also got some special shampoo and conditioning scalp therapy from the beauty salon. The mixture of everything I have done seems to be working. IF you guys find anythng else that works then please let me know.

I set myself a new goal. I can do it! I am going to do it!!!!

Humm.... I might have to try and find some biotin.  Now do you take this with a regular multi-vitamin or in place of?

Its expensive, but there is a shampoo and conditioner that can help.  I forgot the name of it . Also, my beautician picked me up some protein treatments much like hot oil treatments.  Hope this helps.  Also, go to a good stylist who can cut your hair in a manner that will make it look thicker.  Many of us wls patients have thin hair.  Takes time to grow back but it will.  I know it is very disheartening.  Some mornings I just wanted to cry on the way to work.

Hi Kristen, it happens between 3-6 months.  I had real thick hair before surgery, it would take an hour to blow dry.  Plus it was way down my back. Between having to take chemo pills daily, and not able to get in all my protein, Christmas I had to have most of it cut off and only took 2 minutes to dry.  Now it's starting to grow back in but it's baby fine, not as much frizz like it was in the spring.  I'm 20 months out and mine is slowly coming back in.  But remember I am on chemo for my leukemia so I am a different case all together.  I will have to try that Vitamin when I get some $$$$$$.  Stress will make it fall out more, so try and stay stress free if possible.   Love
