A very good Protein Smoothie

When I was at my drs office, I told him about a smoothie I made. He said I should share it... so here it is. 1 scoop of protein (or whatever amount your protein calls for to make 20g) 1 BIG Tablespoon of frozen unsweetened OJ 1 banana A handful of blueberries whatever else fruit you want to use... sometimes I use fresh strawberries, or a few chunks of fresh pineapple Ice at least a glassful (crushed will turn the blender better) add a lil at a time Little bit of water to make the blender turn (not too much, I like my smoothies icy and thick) Splenda (I like my smoothies really nice and sweet and so I use like 8 packages since the blender is about full, but you may only need half of that. I know it's a lot, but it works for me) Blend it up till it is icy.... drink and go ahhhh :) I do not like a lot of protein drinks, but this tastes the absolute BEST! I have lost 20 pounds :) whooopie!

That sounds good. Too good! That much fruit is wa-a-ay too many carbs and calories for me. I use SF Da Vinci syrups to get a lot of my fruit flavor boost in protein shakes. You just use the syrup instead of water to keep it nice and thick. I like mine thick and frosty too.

That sounds really good.  I'll have to try it.  Did you get a fill on your first follow-up?  I didn't, but now i don't feel restricted, so i'm going in next week for my first fill.  Congratulations on your weight loss.

I haven't gotten a fill yet, I go next week :) Yes, sadly fruit has carbs. But it is good for us to eat... good carbs. I don't use all of that at once... just a few chunks.  I do eat all the banana. Maybe I will get used to using less. Have a great week!

I do use fruit in my smoothies, just not much. I agree, fruit does have good carbs and I enjoy fruit. I jus****ch my portions. In a smoothie I might use 1/4 of a small banana and 1 large strawberry along with strawberry and banana Da Vinci syrups and either strawberry or vanilla protein powder. BTW - did you get your hug when you saw Dr. Spaw?

Hey lady, great recipe...I have a few questions...what kind of protein powder do you use...what flavor and brand do you use with this?  As for the fruit, I'm with Susan on it being too much for me but I think it would be okay without the banana as that is really the only one I dump on...but where do you find frozen UNSWEETENED orange juice???  I have looked everywhere for that as SM uses it in a lot of her recipes.

Oh, by the way, thanks so much for the well wishes about my upcoming appt in Memphis...I appreciate it and take it to heart more than you know!

Right now I am using Whey Gourmet Ice Cream flavor vanilla. My hubby likes the shakes too, so I use more fruit for 2. Lately, he doesn't drink them as much, so I did cut my banana, and a few blueberries or  strawberries.  I found the oj at Walmart I think. It is in tiny print on the frozen can. How are you feeling?
