OT: My doggie is in Heaven

I just got back from the vet where I had to put my 5 yr old Bassett Hound to sleep.  It was a very painful decision and one I wished I didn't have to make but I knew she was sick and I didn't want her to be in pain.    But I am a real animal person and sometimes I prefer animals to humans so this pain is liking losing one of dear family member.  I rescued Sadie from the pound and did give her 3 wonderful years (and she gave them back ).   It doesn't feel right at home because she is not at my feet while I type this message.   I have buried her on my parent's property and in the morning my husband will be making a cross to mark her grave.   I know some people won't understand because "it is just a dog"  but she was more than a dog.  She was my campion, best friend, smile maker, etc.  She will be greatly missed and will always be in my memories. Rest in Peace Sadie.  I know that you are in heaven with Grandpa Jack chasing those rabbits.

I,m very sorry, I am an animal person and it is like losing someone dear.  Be comforted in the fact you gave her some wonderful years where she was much loved. Kim

Lisa,         I completly understand your loss, back in July, I had to have my 16 year old beagle put to sleep, we also rescued her when she was 10.  Therefore, I completly understand you pain and loss, because Sarah was part of our family as well!!  It is tough!!! Lisa, our prayers are with you!  When Beth and I got married, I was allergic to dogs and cats.  Guess what, she had "dogs & cats".  At first ,I thought what am I getting into. Then I fell in love with the mangy mutt  Puppy 1 and ferociouss feline!  Kitty 1  Both are gone now, and I feel your loss!  Hang in there, it will get easier as time goes on, but don't ever forget the love and good times they brought you!

You poor thing. I know what you are going through. My grandmother had a dog that she was very attached to and got very old, she could not take him so she asked me to take him to vet and have him put down. He wasn't even my dog and I cried like a baby. My dad also recently had to put his ****er spaniel down and he called me crying and it broke my heart. Prayers are with you. I know sweet Sadie is watching over you.
