I am wondering about like Turkey Jerky or different types of Jerky that set well with people.  Susan mentioned one on a website but I can remember the name?  Any suggestions on good high protein yummy ones and where to buy them?

The Vitamin Shoppe has Ostrim which is an ostrich and beef combo stick kind of like a Slim Jim. I also like Jack Links Tender Bites. I get them at Wal-Mart. The best thing about the jerky is that it gives you a lot of chewing and flavor too. That was the hardest thing about the pureed phase for me, I missed chewing. Just make sure you take small bites and treat it almost like a piece of chewing gum. Chew, chew, chew, chew and just swallow the juices until you find what you can tolerate.

The Jack Links is really good. I believe they also have a turkey version but I haven't tried that one. I usaully get the 1 oz packs for a snack because they have LOTS of protein (like 30 grams for one ounce). Like Susan said, you can get those from walmart. But, you are so soon after surgery, you may have to do the jerky bites instead of the regular jerky because the bites are a little bit more softer/chewier. I saw at Kroger the other day they have turkey slim jims. I never knew they had those. I haven't tried them yet. You might want to try those. I know BE (bariatriceating.com) has some jerky on their website but it seems pricy and I haven't tried that so I do not know what it taste like. I hope you find something you like and can tolerate.

Hi Lisa, I make my own.  I buy a bottom round roast, have it sliced 1/8" thick, dip in Dales seasoning and put it on my food dehydrator for 24 hours.  Makes 2 pounds.  The flavor from Dales really lingers in your mouth.  I haven't tried the others, for me to make chicken or turkey jerky, they must be cooked first.  I can't wait to get my dehydrator out of storage.  I may have to borrow my son's.  I got them each one for Christmas, and they love it.  I wish you joy in finding one that you like. I want to do some lamb jerky as it's really high in protein.  Just make sure if you make your own, that you cut off the fat first.
