Anyone here have Cigna and get approved without a 6 months documentation of diet/exercise? I have a lot of health issues and was really hoping to get this done before end of the year-any advice or hope to be offered???

I have Cigna and am going thur Vanderbuilt.  They would not even submit mine until I do the 6 mont plan.  They told me never approves it without this.

I have CIGNA.  As I understand it the six-month physician supervised diet is standard.  You must meet the criteria set by the insurance company or they will not approve your surgery.  The only way I know around the six-month diet is to pay for it yourself.  I just couldn't afford to do that. Good luck with your journey! Freddie

i have Cigna. you will have to do the 6 months, but could get around it with some other comorbidities like sleep apnea or something. i dont know anyone that was able to get approved that way but you could try.

good luck

Marie

I have Cigna and had to have the 6 month diet.  I din't have any problems being approved after the six months, but my doctor's office wouldn't submit my info until i had those 6 months.

I have Cigna and had to do the 6 month supervised diet. Once I finished that, the MD office sent it in and I was approved in less than 24 hours.  Good luck! Janie

Hi, I don't have Cigna, but I know that most insurance companies require it for approval.  It also goes towards your total weightloss.  Just think, come the new year, you won't have any problems sticking to your resolution.  It's also helps you with your surgery.  It will help get your liver closer to normal as most obese people have a fatty liver.  It will help with the recovery program but having that diet program prior to surgery.  Plus start working out so that you will be in better shape come your surgery date.   I wish you the best.  May God travel with you on this journey.  Love

Thanks guys for your comments! I don't have sleep apnea, but do have high BP and heart palps.  i also have exertional dyspnea and PCOS.  I had a stress test in the winter and had to follow up with a cardiac cath, which thankfully showed no heart issues. however, I ended up with a blood clot after the cath.  I also broke my foot and ankle on January first last year.  All these health issues have gotten to be too much.  that is why I am wanting this surgery so badly.  I have started dieting and have been exercising 2-3 times per week.  I had to start of slow, due to the dyspnea.  i guess if I have to wait for 5 more months, oh well, I was just hoping to have before the end of the year.  I dont know, there actually may be something documented about wt in my files.  Lord knows, i have been there at least every month since january!

6 months is standard. It has to be doctor supervised. I had 6 months worth through my personal trainer and they wouldn't accept it. Vanessa
