Hello all, Been a while, I was doing great then Sunday night BAM it hit me like a hammer to the head. We were getting ready for bed and the world begin to go in circles and I had extreme nausea with constant dry-heaves. Linda called the (911 I was rushed to the hospital and They did a CT scan and found that I had a stroke sometime in the past. They put me in the Hospital to run more test, MRI and MRA . They found I have blockages small veins and in the carotid arteries. I have had my driving privileges revoked by the Dr. & Linda. They did nothing for my Vertigo and I can barely walk. I called my surgeons office to keep them informed, they at the Hospital also put me on Plavix. I have an appointment with a Neurologist in two weeks. My question has anyone had extreme vertigo and is it due to WLS? By the way I'm down to 314 down from 423 on March 19 with 77 pounds lost from surgery day on May 22.

It's good to see you. Sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing. I've not heard of anyone experiencing vertigo due to WLS. I would be more inclined to believe it is connected to the reduced blood flow to the brain caused by the blockages in your carotids. Congrats on your weight loss! Keep us informed of the other issues. I'm sure they'll get it resolved and get your head off of the merry-go-round.

Thanks all, I guess that probably is the problem. I didn't even think of that. I sure wouldn't want to live forever in a state of drunkenness, it's awful.

Dew, did they say how old your stroke is.  The dizziness would be due to that.  How bad were you carotids blocked, did they discuss surgery?  I'm not a surgeon just a nurse, but you could be at risk for more strokes.  Plavix should help the build up.  I think with some time the dizziness should get better.  Good Luck.  Be careful and definitely don't drive.  If you do let me know when you'll be out.  haha.
