Any experience with them and paying for DS.

Have you tried calling their Cx care number on back of your insurance card and asking what they cover or if they would cover DS. I have BCBS of NY but not sure if they cover DS. Good luck!

It depends on your particular plan. Like Juanita said, call the customer care number on your card and ask about coverage.

They can't tell you what your plan covers? Why, is it a state secret? (it's been a long day and I'm being a smarty pants) I think you got someone who just didn't want to be bothered with looking it up. Can you call the human resources department for your company? Or your husband's if that is where your insurance is through? I am the HR rep at my company. I deal with BCBST on a regular basis since that is who we are with. I know that sometimes the member services people are not very helpful to my folks. If I call my contact though, I get answers very quickly. That is what the HR department is there for. Call them and tell them that you can't get any answers to your questions from member services. I can't answer your question for you because every BCBST plan is different. Our plan doesn't cover any form of WLS or any other treatment for obesity.

I understand the frustration.  I thought I was talking to a 16 year old.  Thankyou for your help I will try HR.

I have some experience trying to get them to pay for RNY.

I promise, you really, really don't even want to know. I did get them to fax me a copy of the requirements they have for the surgery, though.

Eventually, I did exactly what they wanted - I gave up on them, got United Healthcare, and got approval within 24 hours of submitting my paperwork.
