Hey, I'm 19 and weigh 530. Don't feel alone, I knew how I felt. I was actually planning on playing UTM since I played all through high school, went through some wreck related injuries and halted my playing. I think the only thing that will get us is the fact we have played the trenches so long that picking up a light weight position and chasing people or running from then will be a difficult change in mindset lol. Being a lineman I always dreamed about getting out of the trench but I finally learned to love it so much I don't know what I'll do when I have surgery. Every time I lift weights or train, I train for that go and drive for a max of ten yards against another hog. I wouldn't know how to condition myself for that type of position. Another thing may be the overall intake of protein, after surgery it is hard enough to keep up protein just to stay healthy I hear, much less to develop and create muscle... Definitely message me back when u hear from the doc.

Heres my opinion I played football and recently had gastric bypass. This is a major abdominal surgery you will be sore and tender for at least 2 months. There will be the possibility of tearing the stable lines due to the violent nature of the game. Neither of these would be my major concern. After surgery you will have a much smaller stomach. Dehydration during training would be a major concern. Also you would need to keep the muscle mass you have now. This would entail taking in lots of protein. I’m no expert talk to your surgeon. You’re a young man; if you want this bad enough you can do it.
Just be sure and talk to your surgeon.
Good Luck and Best Wishes,
Steve
