STARVING TO DEATH

Ok, my lap band surgery is Tuesday.  I am on what's supposed to be day 3 of having only 4 protein shakes per day of my pre-op diet.  I don't think i'm going to survive!  I mean, how do they expect a fat girl to starve herself for two weeks on purpose?  Now, if i were stranded somewhere with no food, in prison, in a straight jacket........  Come on!  I'm having serious bulemic impulses right now.  I just want to scarf down two Big Macs and then .  LOL.  If i could starve like this, then i wouldn't be fat.   I needed to vent.  Thanks for listening.

You can do this!! There is a good reason for it and after your surgery this will simply be a bad dream. Hang in there girl, Tuesday will be here before you know it. BTW - you do know that you can have all of the calorie free liquids you want? You can have SF jello, SF popsicles, Crystal Light, broth, water, coffee, tea, as long as it is sugar free and pretty much calorie free. Stuff like SF jello and SF popsicles to have some calories but not enough to matter in the long run. I found that sometimes something warm stopped the tummy growls better than something cold.

The SF jell-o and popsicles aren't doing it for me, but maybe i'll try some hot tea.  Thanks.

Hang in there. Just keep telling yourself that it will be all worth it in the end. You can do this. I would say to have chicken broth. It is something hot and that always did it for me. I just added some salt (not sure if you are supposed to or not but i did).  It is easier said than done but try not to think about it. You really need to stick to it because they primarily put you on this diet to reduce your liver size so there is no complications during the lap surgery. You definantely do not want open surgery if you do not need to because it is harder to recover from. So stick with it and try to find varieties to help those "cravings" and just know it will all be worth it in the end when you have lost weight and are healthy. Good luck!

If you seriously get weak, call the drs office. Maybe they will allow a Healthy Choice dinner every now and then. I just finished all that diet, and I have my Lap Band as of August 27th!! Popcicles were my staple. Every time I got hungry I would eat about 4 SF Popcicles. My mouth would be so frozen...lol... I had something else to think about. I have lost like 17 pounds... so I will tell you... on the other side, looking back... it was kinda awesome to lose 17 pounds in 2 weeks. Dr Spaw said my liver looked great and I was a good canidate for the LB. THAT made me feel GRAND! Sending you lots of tlc and hugs Now, I am not hungry at all... wow... and I am having a hard time thinking of what liquid to drink.   Day 2 after the LB.

Thanks guys for the support.  I've been having a really hard time with this pre-op diet.  Last week, when i could have the one Lean Cuisine wasn't too terribly bad, but this week with only protein shakes is killing me.  I cheated a couple of days, but i'm determined to do what i need to do.  The same shakes were getting really old, so i spiced it up by getting a low-carb one from Smoothie King today.  Now, i just have to get all my water in.

Ddee, tonight, i'll try the SF popsicles for dinner.  I bought a box, but haven't really been eating them.  I've lost 14 lbs already though, thanks in part to a nasty stomach virus last weekend.

It is hard and you are doing GREAT!!!! Keep it up, the end is in sight! Chicken and beef broth were my favs, and unjury makes a chicken broth flavored protein powder.  There came a time when I thought I would die if I had to drink one more sweet drink. I have some of the chicken broth unjury if you want to try it.
