Hey Guys,  Just an update on Bob (my friend from the Men's Board).  It sounds like he has got a ways to go.   Please keep him and his family in your prayers.  I know it is prayers that are keeping him alive, and giving his wife the strength to deal wit this. For all of you who are new to this, or are lurking, please keep in mind, any surgery is major and can be serious!  My intentions are not to scare anyone, just to keep you up to date on a very dear friend of mine!  These updates are coming from Cards Fan.  He is close enough that he can get updates! Thanks Guys, "YOU ARE THE BEST"! Scott I just got off the phone with Bob's wife and there's been no change since Friday when I spoke with her.  He is still in critical condition - no better or no worse.  He has not improved to the point to where they can close him up.  Currently his incision sternum to below the belly button is still open.  Plans are for another surgery tomorrow (a "washout") to clean-up the drainage.  His drains have a large amount of fluid coming from them - the fluid from them is not as dark as it was in previous days so that "could" be a positive sign, but not sure.  The fluid from Bob's JP drain from his pouch is producing stomach acids so that appears to be a positive. So at this point, not much change.  I will say that Bob's wife sounded extremely tired so she could definitely use some extra prayers to help lift her up. More info as it becomes available...I hope the next time I receive any news that it's from Bob directly and he's conscious and on the road to recovery.  At this point, it sounds like he's got a difficult road to travel. Keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing for Bob and his family! Cards Fan

Praying for healing for your friend.

I have had  no complications from my surgery. (mine, laposcopic).    I often hesitate telling people that because this is a very serious surgery that can go badly.  It can be a life-changing surgery but still a very serious surgery with serious risks...you have to come to the decision based on that fact.   Open surgery carries even more risk of complications.   No one wants to be the one when complications happen.
