Emergency??? Surgery in the Moring...aauugghh!

Well, my appt with Dr. Hubbard did not go as planned...he cannot help me but he is referring me to a surgeon in Memphis who can hopefully do the surgery...Dr. Hubbard said I was beyond his capabilities. After I left his office, I got a call from Holly at Dr. Houston's telling me that doc wanted to speak with me.  Then, Dr. H called me and told me he wasn't happy with the cat scan...that it showed "distention" that was unexplained and that he felt we were dealing with a hernia.  He said he did not want to wait any longer than Friday to do "a scope" and that he wanted to set it up now.  Well, I was okay, thinking he was going to put the light down my throat and so I said, "Oh, so you'll give me something to make me sleepy and run the light down..."  And he says, "NO hon, we are doing surgery...surgery, not a light."  I wanted to know if it could wait and got an emphatic "NO, and I am not happy about waiting till Friday and if you have any more pain from now until then, come up to the hospital immediately."  So I guess this is kinda emergency surgery in a way!  Scary! Well color me surprised!  And to beat all, all I can think of is how much money this is going to cost us that we do not have.  I even told Eddie that I was feeling better these last two days and that maybe I should cancel and of course he freaked out!   So I guess I am having surgery tomorrow.  Problem is...I have to have a driver and I can't find one so far.  My hubby is working and cannot get off because the only other guy who can do his job is with his wife who is in labor...as we speak!  My best friend is working and can't get off because she is filling in for someone whose son died.  Jeremy is working and could ask off if he absolutely had to but I don't want him to since he just started this job.  Whew...I don't know what to do but drive myself up there and hope it all works out. So, now that we have Melinda through hers...you guys say a prayer for me that all goes well and that mainly...they figure out what the heck is causing my issues and FIX  IT!!!! Thanks everyone! Oh, I will be at Centennial Women's Hospital and I told them that if anyone wanted to know if I was there or not they could tell them.

Sorry to hear about surgery... that is pretty scary, but at least you'll get your pain under control and figure out whats causing it. Money should be the last of your worries!! Most hospitals do set up payment plans and I've always just paid what I could afford to pay anyways. I found myself in these situations while in college. I hope everything goes smoothly for you tomorrow... you know you're in good hands!

*lots of hugs*

Hey...my phone number is listed so I don't care to give it out...931-762-4712.  I'm on the net right now so it's busy but I am planning on just staying up anyway.  I have to be there at 5:30am but surgery is not scheduled until 8am.  I am figuring, due to living two hours away, that he will go ahead and keep me overnight.  That will solve the driver issue as my brother could take me home if need be.  I am starting to get nervous!
