Water Intake Problems..need Help!
So I thought I would do awesome with water because I loved water before and drank all the time. Now every time I drink water it upsets my stomach and I just have a hard time getting enough in. I add crystal light and water it down and it's still hard to do. Not sure what else to do??? Also how long should it take to get in a bottle of water, an hour or should I be able to do it in less time?

I am in the same situation! I used to love drinking water but somehow it has turned into a real effort! I use those little 2 oz cups and drink sips from those (it doesn't seem so overwhelming that way.) Water doesn't really upset my stomach it just feels like it's sloshing around inside me. I'm really trying to learn to love it (but honestly...I haven't gotten there yet!) I'm just taking it a day at a time. Good luck!

I was a big water drinker pre-op too and had trouble with it right after surgery. Remember that broth, decaf tea and coffee, herbal tea and SF popsicles can all be counted as fluid. If you just can't stomach the plain water, try some of these. As long as it is sugar free, calorie free, and caffeine free, it counts as fluids.
You have time for your pouch to get used to water again. Right now it's more important that you get in fluids through whatever means necessary.
I still have trouble with plain water. I need to buy stock in Crystal Light since I'm investing in it already.
One other thing...I found that I could (can) tolerate room temperature water better than really cold. Ice water or really cold water still makes my pouch unhappy. Warm fluids tend to sit best with me.

I had the same problem. You are so new post-op that it is not unormal for that. It will take an ENTIRE day to get in all of your 64 oz. So, do not stress and just keep sipping at all times. Try all kind of flavors of crystal light and sf koolaid to see if you can find something you can tolerate. I know, i livedo nthe chicken broths because it was hot. That counts as fluids so if you want a change up, try heating up some chicken broth (I always put in a little salt). As Susan said, your SF popsicles and even jello can count as "fluid" intake. So stick with it and find alternatives if you need to.

Hi Sweetie, I loved tapped water from the fridge until I had surgery. I even tried the flavor water, didn't sit well at all. I tried all bottle water, I would throw it right back up until I drank Deer Park. To this day, even at our luncheons, I take my own bottle of water. I still can't handle anything else but deer park. Even for my crystal lite, I use deer park. The only time I use tap water is for tea or jello. I'm 19 months out and just now able to get in my water because of the heat. I keep a gallon of Crystal lite made at all times, and will go thru it every 2-3 days, unless I spill it on my floor like I did tonight. Me without a mop or broom and spilling a full glass of pink lemonade crystal lite. But the nice man next door cleaned it up for me. Wasn't that sweet of him? He knew if I bent my head down to do it I would pass out from the pressure in my ears from having the tubes put back in last week.
Just do your best that is all that is required of you. But you don't have to limit yourself to just plain water. Do what we olders ones did to get a baby to drink water, add a little splenda to it if it makes it easier to get down.
You can do it.
