i had my rny on monday and they sent me home on full liquids, but i am scared to eat. i am scared that i will get sick(vomit or dump) Is it just an issue of trial and error? Maybe I am just being too paranoid. what kind of yogurt do u all eat, seems like they have too much sugar? Did anyone ever try the baked chicken soup from Demo's (pureed)?

Amber, It is natural to be scared of something new.  I would suggest that you start with some scrambled eggs.   Soft scrambe them with PAM , then put them in a blender to make sure they are soft enough.  I added mushrooms and FF cheese to mine and made a "mock" omelet.   Carb Master yogurt from Kroger has the least carbs and most protein of any I have found.   The problem with soups is that they usually have added fats unless you make them yourself.  I would just bake some chicken in the oven , when putting in the blender add some chicken broth for mositure and try that at first.  The Demo's soup may have spices, fats that would upset your pouch. Congratulations on your WLS journey. Darlene

I was kind of the same way my first week...but when I saw my nutritionist a week later she told me I could do tuna salad or chicken salad (use low fat mayo, relish and chopped boiled egg -- no crunch stuff) ...it worked like a charm, great source of protein which really helped my energy level and is good even pureed.  Another good option for pureed chicken is a rotissere chicken...very good flavor even pureed and amazing how long it will last with very little portions.  ;)

Hi. It is completely normal to be worried about eating agian. Just start out slow and stick with the "approved" items from your list.  I would think you are not on pureed or soft foods yet are you? When you do move to pureed, start with scrambled eggs with cheese. I also ate the chicken in a can (or Tuna if you perfer) in a blender with some cheese and spices and lite mayo or mustard. I lived on that chicken stuff for a while when I was on pureed. Also, you can eat refried beans with cheese. You can get those in a can and heat it up or you can get it from Taco Bell. For a change up (but not on a regular basis because they have no nutritional value) you can try mashed potatoes. Just see what agrees with you and remember to eat really really slowly. I eat the Yoplait Light yogurt. It has about 14 grams of sugar but this is really the only one I like. Plus it is made with Splenda so it is mostly milk and fruit sugar. As long as you eat slow and do not overeat and do not eat "bad" sugars, you should be fine.

Hi Amber! I'm two weeks out and I completely understand your fears.  But...you will never know until you try for yourself.  I think that for first foods I would make my own soup instead of Demos.  Or, if you aren't a cook, call Demos and explain your situation and ask exactly what is in it. Personally, I have had really good luck with refried beans and cheese.  Before surgery that wouldn't have sounded good to me but now it is really delicious!  Since you are on full liquids, have you tried sugar free pudding?  You can make the instant stuff and add some protein powder to it.  It is really good--you can't taste the protein at all.

I'm so glad to see that you are back and doing well.  I live here in Murfreesboro, too so if you need something...holler! Freddie

Hey Amber!  Sorry your feeling the way you do, but my wife felt the same way when she came home.  Guess what?...she was fine.  And you will be also. So, WELCOME HOME!  I have been watching for a post, so I could pass this gift on to you! Welcome to the Losers Bench, may it be comfortable, roomy, and just what the Dr. ordered!  I'm glad you made it home! bubbles

Amber, I have been wondering about you and how everything went. Since we had our surgeries on the same day (6th) I felt like we had something in common. I'm experiencing the same uncertainties that you are about what to eat or not to eat. I'm still on liquids and trying to get my water in each day. I'm not rushing it until I go back to see Dr Spaw for my two-week appointment. I think we have plenty of time to get used to the new body that we have and we need to allow it plenty of time to heal.  Blessings on you and I'm thankful that you came through your surgery and you are at home. Will

Thanks so much for all the well wishings! How are you doing since surgery?  I really had all the intentions to stay on the clear diet until at least I went to the my follow up appt with the doc, but they told me to be on the full liquids, soups, yogurts, etc just pureed.so I am just going to take it easy, and do what I can. I hope you are doing okay, talk to you soon.

Amber
