Hello Everyone!! I think I posted to this board about a year ago. Sure has been a long battle... But GUESS WHAT?? I am going to have surgery on August 27th!!!! My doctor is Dr. Spaw. I am having the Lap Band. Any advice is appreciated. The first question I have is what liquid protein you use, and why?  Anddd ...which tastes good??

Congrats on your date and Welcome back to the board! Right now I am using the Body Fortress Protein Vanilla flavor from Walmart. It taste good but unless you use a blender it is hard to mix. I like trying different proteins just so I won't get bored. A little advice, you may want to order a sample packet of proteins, your taste tend to change after surgery so something you like now could taste gross after surgery. Good Luck!!

Congratulations on your date. You have waited a long time. I'm so glad you didn't give up. I use several different brands of protein supplements. I like different flavors in different brands. I prefer Designer Whey for chocolate and vanilla, Gladiator for strawberry, Nectar Cappuccino to add to my coffee and make my own frappuccinos, and Any Whey for unflavored.  The Any Whey can be put in warm foods as well as cold. I use it in soups, broth, coffee (though I do prefer my Nectar Cappuccino flavor in my coffee). To use in warm liquids, first make a paste by adding cool liquid and then add your warm, not hot, liquid. Make sure the liquid is no hotter than coffee out of a drip coffeemaker. If you get it too hot, it will curdle and you won't be able to eat it. You might also like to try New Whey protein bullets. These are like a jello shot. They come in 25 gram and 42 gram tubes. The 42 gram is more intense and you can only take 1/2 of it at a time since it is more protein than our bodies can absorb at a time. These do let you get a big boost of protein in just 3 oz or less though. You can also mix the contents with ice and water to make a protein slush and make the flavor less intense. The Designer Whey, Any Whey and New Whey bullets are available at The Vitamin Shoppe. I order the Nectar Cappuccino from Susan Maria's Bariatric Eating website. Gladiator protein powder is available at Smoothie King. We also use Da Vinci sugar free syrups to enhance and alter the flavors of our protein powders. You can find a huge variety at a store in Antioch called 'It's All Sugar Free'. They also carry other products that we like. Feel free to post away with any and all questions. You will get a lot of very helpful information from the folks on this forum.

Congratulations on your sugery date! It will be here before you know it :-)

As for protein, I am (was) addicted to AchievOne which you can find at www.bariatriceating.com or the Sugar Free store in Antioch. I'm just not into it now, of course, that could be because I'm pregnant. At any rate, before I found this, I drank the EAS Carb AdvantEdge drinks that you can get at walmart and kroger. They're ready to drink and taste sorta like a Yoo-hoo. Too keep in mind, that everyone's taste is different and I've even heard that some people's taste change after surgery. At any rate, again congratulations, and GOOD LUCK!

Congratulations on getting  a date. It will be here before you know it. I've heard many wonderful things about Dr. Spaw. You are in good hands.

I am pre-op so I don't have any advice for you. I do know that most of the ladies on this board love Acheive One but I have never tried it. I have tried and like the whey bullets. Like Susan said they taste kind of like Jello. There is a store called "It's All Sugar Free" that might help you find something you'll really like. You can ask Sheila about it and she will give you all the details.

I wish you the best.

Hi and welcome back to the Tennessee Forum! I had a lap RnY a couple of weeks ago with Dr. Spaw as my surgeon.  He is wonderful!!!  I hope that your experience will be as wonderful as mine. I use several different types of protein...I love Whey Gourmet (available at bariatriceating.com) in almost any flavor.  My favorites are the chocolate peanut butter and the dark chocolate!  I also adore Da Vinci syrups to add a little pizzaz to whatever I am drinking! Nice to meet you and Good Luck! Freddie
