Lingering pain
Okay guys - I have a question. I am a week out of surgery today. I've been having this pain in my left side. It happens when I breathe deeply, hiccup, and sometimes when I burp. At first I thought it was trapped gas and I have been trying everything possible to release it. It hasn't worked. The pain feels like something is being squeezed. It's a sharp pain and it's not constant. It just occurs when I do the above listed things. My doctor appointment is next Wednesday. I'm not running a fever and feel pretty good besides this problem. My left side is pretty sore. More sore than any other part. I feel kinda silly asking for an appointment before my scheduled one. Does anyone believe that it is anything besides gas? I have called the Dr's office and they feel it is trapped gas. I've been walking and sipping. I also thought it could be a muscle. It hasn't gotten worse, but it hasn't gotten better. HELP!!?!?!?! I'm not asking for a diagnosis, just other ideas of what this pain could possibly be.
Thanks guys!
~Amber~
My memory is terrible so I dont remember if I had this or not... it could just be one of your port sites where they did the lap.... but call your doctor as soon as the office opens today. Better to be safe than to ignore it or prolong a call. Keep us posted and hpe you get to feeling better. Sorry I missed your surgery date. Congrats!
Hi Amber. I am sorry to hear that you are having some pain. The left side is where your stomach is (the "left over" biggest part is more to the left than the small pouch). It sounds like you probably have some swelling going on as it is trying to heal. It is not abnormal to have residual swelling after the major surgery you just had but like everyone else said, you may want to call your Dr just to be safe. I hope they can do something to take care of it so you are not having to deal with the pain.
