Fast food
Since lap banders don't dump I just assumed it would be easier finding things to eat when you go out. Guess I learned something (not always good to assume LOL). Anyway, just always go for grilled fish or chicken , just order it cooked plain, no sauces or gravies.
You could always carry pouches of tuna and chicken with you, just make sure you get in your protein and your liquids.
And don't forget to have fun while you are out of town.

Hi Brenda. I love to go out of town but it definatley makes eating habits a lot harder. Especially when you have to eat out most of the time. How far are you from surgery. Can you eat just about anythiing?Like everyone else said, stick to the chicken. I hate fast food now but if I have to eat fast food, I get a chicken sandwich and just do not eat the bread. Or eat at subway (without the bread) and I LOVE the turkey and ranch sandwich from Arbys but I just do not eat the bread. I just wrap it up in the lettuce and eat it that way. I haven't had it but I believe Hardees even has a low carb hamburger that is wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. Depending on how far out you are, that might be an option. Of course, there is always the Taco Bell pintos and cheese. So, even though fast food isnt the best option, you can usually find something that you can tolerate and be somewhat healthy no matter where you go (except McDonalds- I haven't found anything to eat there that can even be made healthy. even their salads and dressings are not really good for you. I looked at their website). You can also take some things with you to "snack" on like beef jerky or protein bars.
Most important, keep drinking your water/fuids. That is always hard when travelling so do your best to keep a bottled water with you at all times.
I hope you have a great time going out of town!

I usually stick with any grilled/veggie combo. If you want to do fast food...the old standby for me is Taco Bell pintos and cheese. If there is a Chili's near you, I get the lettuce wraps, and eat the filling and just leave the lettuce. Sometimes I leave out the rice noodles, but there really isn't enough there to kill you. Hope the suggestions help.

Hi Misty,
I'm at that stage where I can eat lettuce, but I figure...would I rather have lettuce or more chicken...and my answer...MORE CHICKEN! lol. I do sometimes eat the lettuce with the wraps. I've actually been able to make the filling at home and have modified my recipie as a chicken stir fry. I add lots of fresh cilantro, lime juice, lime zest, and spicy Thai peanut sauce. Yummy!
