Connie at the sugar free store today asked me if I had gotten a sippy cup or kids utensils.  I have not, but I wondered wouldn't the sippy cup be like a straw and get air in your pouch??? I don't have kids so I wouldn't know.

It does help you take sips instead of gulps, which helps reduce the air intake when you drink.  I would not use the suction part, just use it to reduce the size of your drinking until you get use to the small amount you can intake after surgery.  The kids utensils, help you take small bites instead of the larger bites you were use to taking.  You would be surprised how much these few items can really help in the beginning!!! Make sure I have your contact information, if you like, before your surgery, so I can keep in contact when you have surgery and keep the board posted. I will.  Plus it should be fairly easy since Rhonda B is having it the same day same hospital.  Will too but can't recall which hospital.

If I am thinking correctly Will has his with Dr. Spaw at Baptist the week before you and Rhonda, but I would like to be a contact for each of you if that is okay, so Will, Rhonda, and Lisa, please PM me your full name and phone numbers so I can keep a check on you and let the Board know your LOSERS progress report!!!!

I'm pretty sure Shelia's right--Will's surgery is on the 6th at Baptist with Dr. Spaw....Mine and Lisa's are on the 13th.    I hadn't thought about baby/toddler spoons...a 4 year post-op friend of mine has told me several times that I will eat like a baby and my new tummy will only hold about what an infant can eat.  Makes sense!  Dig out the baby stuff!!!

I just got some of the plastic 1 oz cups like what they bring your pills in. I would fill it from my water bottle and that reminded me to sip. I did use the toddler spoons and fork though. That really does help control the size of your bite until you learn to take tiny bites. I still eat my chili, refried beans & cheese, and stuff like that from a teacup. My small portion doesn't look so lost as in a big ol' bowl and I think it stays hot longer too.

Good Day Lisa, Shelia & Rhonda Lisa, I had not thought much about using children's utensils after surgery thanks for sharing the good ideas.  I somehow ended up a week before Rhonda and you  because I have my RNY surgery on August 6th @ Baptist Hospital and Dr Albert Spaw is my Surgeon. I have been on the Pre-Op diet since July 19 and start all liquids today I will need everyone's prayers. I have decided to treat this as a fast and attempt to draw closer to God.  So I'm going to miss walking the halls with ya! Blessings Will

I'll come over and walk with you the morning of the 7th. I'm taking that day off to prepare for a test on the 8th so I'll be on liquids that day. I look forward to meeting you and your wife in person.

Thanks Susan, my wife will be there as my 'drill sargent' to make sure that I follow all of the doctor's orders. My men's Sunday School class will also be there to make sure I'm a good patient as well. I look forward to meeting you as well. Blessings  Will
