Lunch Saturday, July 14th - 2 options

Since Shogun is not open for lunch on Saturdays, we have been looking at other options. I received one suggestion last night and ran another one by some folks so we have 2 to choose from for something new. Option 1 - Cozymel's - this is a mexican restaurant that I think could be very WLS friendly. This was one of my favorite places to eat when I worked in the Cool Springs area. You can go to their website to check out the menu www.cozymels.com. Their food is not real spicy. I am a wimp when it comes to spicy and I love it. Option 2 - Genghis Grill - this is located in front of the Thoroughbred movie theater and was recommended by a bariatric nurse who is also a patient. This is a hibachi grill where you go through a line and choose exactly what you want cooked for you. The sauces are on the side so you control the seasoning of your food. I have never been here so this is all I can tell you about the place other than I was told it is very WLS friendly. Give me some feedback folks. I will not be on the board at all on Friday as I will be in a seminar all day (yeah FMLA regulations). If I don't get enough response by Thursday evening, I will make the choice myself. Love to all, Susan

Hi Susan, My vote is for either one!  I'm not picky.  We are going to see Harry Potter after lunch.  Scott says he'll go wherever. Beth

At first I thought, ohhhh yeah, Mexican.  It's been so long since I've had mexican food.  But then the grill sounds like it would have a better selection, better options for those of us still newly out.  My vote is for Genghis Grill, but I would be happy at either.  Thanks, Susan, for always taking the lead on setting this up for us.  See you Saturday!

I think I'm leaning towards Genghis Grill too. I went to their website to get a little more information since this will be a new experience for me. Check it out, it looks like fun. www.genghisgrill.com It's like a "do it with some help" stir fry. You pick your meat, seasonings, veggies, sauce (can be kept on the side), and starch (or no starch) such as steamed rice, brown rice, udon noodles, or tortilla. Then the grill masters cook it on a hibachi grill right in front of you.  They even have a printable copy of the nutritional info for the sauces so we can check out the sugars, etc. in advance.

I called Genghis Grill to make sure the were WLS freindly.  The guy who answered the phone was not, but the manager on duty, David was.  He said it would not be a problem for us to order a childs bowl if we wanted.  He asked if we had the restaurant card to show that we had had the surgery.  I explained that many of us do not have the card because most restaurants don't ask for it.  He said that was fine.  So, now, I vote for Genghis Grill!   Have a good evening. I vote for Genghis Grill as well. I can't wait to see everyone. I am going to my monthly group meeting tonight. Is it ok if I invite the group?

Thanks Susan....
