How Long of Wait for Insurance?

I was wondering when you guys - that have gotten approved for surgery.. when you say you got approved in a week, how long was the actual wait? Like for example Baptist said they sent my paperwork off Tuesday July 3rd, so impatient as I am I called Aetna Friday and today Tues July 10th and they said they didn't have it in the system.  So it has been a week now and I figured it would be in the system.  She told me to call back next week.  They said they process them in order of receiving obviously and that it gets reviewed and if all the requirements are met then it gets sent to the medical director who approves/denies it.  I figured once they tell me they received it then I would wait a week and call. But it has been a week, minus the weekends and holiday.lol so was your weight time "approved in a week" actually approved in a week from when they received it.   

Yep I was approved a week from when they received paperwork.

When I called my insurance company they said it had been "logged" in on the 25th of June, I received a call from the hospital on July 6, 07 saying I was approved, so I guess it was like 10 days. Kim

 

Hi Lisa! It took two weeks for me to be approved (on the third try.)  The ladies in Dr. Spaw's office check with the insurance company almost every day.  They are wonderful! Good luck and try to be patient Freddie

From the day Baptist send all my stuff in, it took 11 business days to get my approval.  And...that was during the July 4th holiday.  I didn't think it took too long! Hang in there--the first time I called CIGNA they said they didn't have any of my stuff either. Like Freddie said, the girls at Dr. Spaw's office are checking EVERY day and you'll get a call from them as soon as you know something. See you on the loser's bench! Rhonda

Hey there -   I'm not sure what type of insurance you are using, but with mine it took a little while because they were needing more documentation.  However, the insurance company was rather quick at reviewing my claim.   ~Amber~

Well...  What a frustrating topic for me right now! My insurance (PHCS) received my paperwork on June 8th and I was told that I would have the answer on Friday, July the 13th! WTH!!!!

Keep calling them .. I called every other day. I actually missed the date it was approved because I skipped the day it was approved. Good Luck Lisa!!
